A Rebel is defined as a person who opposes the codes and conventions of society and stands out amongst the norm, and singer/songwriter Sonyaé Elise?aka Lady Rebel is out to do just that. Born in Newark, NJ to a family of talented musicians and producers, Sonyaé quickly gravitated towards the stage at a young age, appearing in on and off Broadway performances of acclaimed shows including The Lion King, Le Misérable, Little Shop of Horrors and Ragtime. In 2011, Sonyaé won the inaugural season of Bravo TV’s songwriting competition ‘Platinum Hit’, gaining her national recognition as a forthcoming R&B sensation due to her raw, heartfelt music and a host of hit songs including ‘My Religion’. Following ‘Platinum Hit’, Sonyaé went on to release two mixtapes, Lady Rebel Vol. 1 and Lady Rebel Vol. 2, earning her an army of fans and supporters affectionately known as Lady Rebel Gang. Sonyaé’s underground success and undeniable talent landed her collaborations with an array of Multi-Platinum producers and Grammy-Nominated songwriters including Jill Scott, Kara DioGuardi, Frank Ocean, JR Rotem, Jerry Wonda, Tricky Stewart, The Game, Machine Gun Kelly and Anderson Paak. Sonyaé recently released the highly-anticipated EP, S[HE]S BR[OK]EN, which boasts original production from industry heavy-hitters including Devin Cruise, J. U. S. T. I. C. E. Today on Unspoken Words Robert Dunn chats with Hayden Lasher! Hayden Lasher’s handbag collection for Belgian Shoes reflects the New York designer’s vision of timeless, classic design and construction. The design of the chic top handle bags focuses not only on furthering the form of the eponymous Belgian slipper, but on the function of the handbag itself. Each bag, manufactured with the highest quality Italian leathers and adorned with Belgian’s signature bow, is equipped with a cell phone pocket, a credit card holder, an interior zipper pocket and key ring and chain. Simple and existing with deference to a busy woman’s own style sense, the bags are a complement to her wardrobe and lifestyle.
Hayden is the great grand niece of Henri Bendel, who launched his famous dress salon over one hundred years ago and who was committed to classicism in his personal and business life. Not unlike Coco Chanel, whom he introduced to the United States market, he believed that some things never go out of style.
Hayden’s professional experience at Michael Kors, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Oscar de la Renta prepared her for the launch of her own line and with a wink and a nod from her Uncle Henri, she hopes to create a fashion legacy of her own.

Beep, beep, beep – An alarm sounds. Lights flash. Everyone is on alert. Emergency protocol in effect. It’s a Code Red state of emergency. Soul music is in trouble and one of the greatest R&B singers of a generation is sounding the alarm. Whispered voices have been expressing their concern for some time. Industry insiders talk of a change in the musical direction at radio. Critics blame millennials. Millennials blame the music. Artists blame each other. And everyone blames the Internet. But that’s not the whole story. Soul music is alive and well and “people love it when introduced to it properly,” R&B/Pop icon Monica explains. However, concerned about the future of the genre she loves so much, Monica returns with her seventh studio album appropriately titled Code Red.

Supporting Black Business and Building Institutions is a must in order for our families, community and people to thrive. This is one aspect of liberation that we have complete and full control of and the time is ripe to take advantage of our consumer and production power. This show is all about supporting black business and changing our mindset and spending habits. Black Friday is the official beginning of the surplus holiday shopping season in which the retail shopping industry gets a huge end of the year financial boost with Holiday Season Sales.Instead of heading out to the big box stores and supporting corporations that have a history in supporting our oppression, we should chanel our resources to support our local black businesses and circulate the flow of currency in our own communities. How we spend our money says a lot about how we feel about ourselves and one another. This show will highlight our challenges, the growing trends in business, creative solutions and our successes past and present. We will also discuss the power of the boycott and where we are heading in regards to financial liberation and participation in the global economy. We will also have lots of fun as we shout out the BLACK BUSINESSES with quality products and services. Feel free to call in and participate. Promote your business or your favorite black business.
