The Tigers finally beat the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2 to salvage one in the 3-game series at Comerica Park. They face the Houston Astros next. The Astros lead the AL West with a 27-14 record 5 1/2 games ahead of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
The wait is over. Mike Babcock decides to leave the Detroit Red Wings and sign an 8-year, $50-million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and AHL Grand Grapids Griffins head coach Jeff Blashill is the "leading candidate" to be the next head coach, according to general manager Ken Holland.
His Griffins will take on the Utica Comets in the Western Conference Finals in the Calder Cup Playoffs, after the Comets shut out the Oklahoma City Barons 1-0 in Game 7 of the Conference Semifinals.
Ed Smith returns tonight to co-host with me. We talk the last 2 games of the Astros/Tigers series at Comerica Park and see where the Tigers stand in the American League Central Division. The Tigers travel to Oakland and take on the Athletics in a 3-game series starting tomorrow afternoon on Memorial Day at 4:05.
The Grand Rapids Griffins play Game 1 of the 2015 AHL Calder Cup Playoffs Western Conference Finals in Utica against the Comets tonight. Who sets the tone?
I ask Ed what he thinks about FOX 2 and FOX Sports Detroit teaming up to broadcast Lions preseason games.
In this episode of the Bless You Boys podcast, HookSlide chats with Ryan Dunsmore of SB Nation's Houston Astros site as well as BYB staff writer Jon Erkkila. Astros topics include: early dominance in the AL West, the apparent success of the rebuilding project, World Series odds, and more. Tigers topics inclue Victor Martinez's trip to the disabled list, whether Victor's contract extension looks any different in light of his injuries, the emergence of Alex Wilson as a stable bullpen piece, the struggles of Joba Chamberlain, Brad Ausmus' sometimes questionable strategies, and analyzing the issues behind the streaky Tigers offense.
The NBA Playoffs are in full swing with both conference finals series underway it is also baseball season. If you're a Houstonian or at least a Houston sports fan, this is an unusal May for the home crowd. The Astros are in first place in the AL-West and the Rockets are in the Western Confernce Finals! Stros manager A. J. Hinch talk about the 9-game home stand and their 6-1 victory over the Oakland A's befoe they hit road. The Rockets are the underdogs as they take on the Golden State Warriors, but don't tell them that. Although they lost game one in the Bay Area, they were in it until the very end. Dwight Howard was hobbled by an early knee injury he suffered in a collision with teammate Josh Smith and is questioanble for game two. We'll take a look at what happened in game one and what needs to happen in game two for the Rockets to even the series. And of course Deflate-gate continues to be a 'thing'. Patriots owner Robert Kraft declared his allegiance to the 'good of the game' at the owners meeting in San Francisco saying he wouldn't fight the penalites levied against his team. Speaking of the owner's meetings... what else are they talking about at this week's gathering?

The Tigers take Game 2 of the 4-game series 6-2 over the AL West-leading Houston Astros. Alfredo Simon goes 7 innings and gets the win, and Joba Chamberlain and Tom Gorzelanny pitch 1-2-3 8th and 9th innings to seal it. Also, a Justin Verlander update!
Small update: The Michigan State Spartans Football team recruits 3-star safety Kenney Lyke.
An update each on Game 2 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Atlanta Hawks and Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals in the Stanley Cup Playoffs between the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning.
I ask Dan what his opinions are on Mike Babcock leaving the Red Wings and FOX 2 and FOX Sports Detroit teaming up to cover Lions preseason games this year.
The Tigers upset themselves against the worst team in the National League, the Milwaukee Brewers, 3-2 in the first of a 3-game series at Comerica Park, and I go crazy about it, as Ed Smith co-hosts with me. This has to be one of the most disgraceful games we've ever seen! DISGRACEFUL! I'll explain it.
I also have an update each on Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander and Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock, who was earlier reportedly offered a 6-year, $30-million deal by the Buffalo Sabres.
Well, that really sucked. Swept by the Astros, and owned by Jose Altuve.
What's the problem? How will the A's deal with all these injuries?
We'll be talking about the bullpen, Kendall Graveman, and grading Bob Melvin's latest week in charge. Be sure to call in and give your thoughts on all these topics by calling and getting your voice heard.
When will we ever have a happy show?
We'll do our best to breakdown all the rubbish. And preview the upcoming A's/Angels series.
Begining Ending: Houston Astros and their dominance, just a few short years after the move to the ATL
Mid Ending: A-Rod and his clutch/non-cutch hitting what drove us to love baseball

The Tigers get smashed by the Milwaukee Brewers 8-1 tonight. Anibal Sanchez gives up 3 home runs, including a 3-run homer down the right-field line off the bat of Ryan Braun, and the offense continues to lack production. What do they need to do to improve their offense?
Designated hitter Victor Martinez has been put on the 15-day disabled list due to left knee inflammation. Outfielder Tyler Collins was called up from the AAA Toledo Mud Hens as a result.
Mike Babcock talks to both the Red Wings and Buffalo Sabres. The Wings offer him a short-term deal, but then the Buffalo Sabres offer him $50 million. Which will he take?
The Pistons will be handed the 8th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. Who do you think will they pick?
The Tigers relinquish a 5-0 lead, topped off with Joakim Soria's first blown save of the season, but then they win it 6-5 in 11 innings on a solo home run by catcher James McCann. That's his 2nd carer home run, and his first career walk-off homer. There are pros and cons I'd like to break down in this one. Alfredo Simon takes on Collin McHugh tomorrow night. I'm still having a major headache over this.
According to Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock, current AHL Grand Rapids Griffins head coach Jeff Blashill will be the new head coach of the Red Wings.
The Wings sign Michigan center Dylan Larkin to a 3-year entry-level deal with the Grand Rapids Griffins, who will start their Western Conference Finals series with the Utica Comets Sunday at 7:00 PM EST.
