My guest is Ariel Gore of HIP MAMA MAGAZINE. This months cover went viral before the issue hit news stands. But that's just it. The issue didn't hit news stands because of the cover. Which depicts a woman nursing with out a top/blouse/shirt her child (who happens to be 4). Vendors refused to sell the magazine.

On our show today I will be discussing technology, censorship for children, and will also have my two boys Mikey and Noah in the studio with me today to discuss Little League Baseball, bullying in school, and other topics.
The advancement of technology has given us all a way to express ourselves. We have social media, cell phones, laptops, tablets etc. We can send a message to any part of the world in a manner of seconds. We are supposed to have freedom of speech in this nation. That freedom is attacked daily and people get upset when you want to defend it. It's sad that people are looking people who aren't afriad to tell the truth. But those who speak truth are attacked with censorship. They are told it's not politically correct to say certain things. We all need to defend our right to free speech because we are on the verge of loosing it. Censorship is even starting to be pushed more than ever on social media websites. We want to discuss how and why this has happened in our country.
Philosopher Dr. Diana Hsieh interviewed Professor Robert Garmong about "Censorship in China" in this episode of Philosophy in Action Radio.
How does censorship work in China? What can ordinary people access or not? What is the Chinese government most concerned to conceal? What are the consequences of speaking out? What do ordinary people think of the censorship? Robert Garmong, an American living and working in China, will answer these questions and more.
Robert Garmong is Lecturer of Business at the Surrey International Institute of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics in Dalian, China. He studied economics and political science at the University of Chicago, and has a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Texas (Austin). His blog is "Professor in Dalian."

Mark Zuckerberg's FB has revolutionized Social Networks as has twitter and even my space to some extent. Yet today FB has increasingly become a dictatorship, they censor poeple for stupid reasons like they sent three freind requests, sharing to fast etc. FB has become a micromanagment platform every step of the way. People have been complaining. they seem to be spending less time on FB and finding other venues like Zurker and other networks. Does FB need to stop and fix themselves with their mundane policies that don't make sense like sharing. And/or do social networkers need to stop being FB trained zombies. They really should stop biting the hands that feed them! We the people. read this first To our Kobo Writing Life and self-publishing partners: As you may be aware, there has been a significant amount of negative media attention in the UK regarding offensive material that became available across a number of eBook platforms. Kobo was included in the reports from media and we are taking immediate action to resolve an issue that is the direct result of a select few authors and publishers violating Kobo’s content policies. In order to address the situation Kobo is taking the following steps: 1. We are removing titles in question from the Kobo platform. 2. We are quarantining and reviewing titles to ensure that compliance to our policies is met by all authors and publishers. We will ensure that content meeting the policy is made available online as soon as possible. 3. We are reviewing our policies and procedures to implement safeguards that will ensure this situation does not happen in the future. We are working hard to get back to business as usual, as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter. Our goal at Kobo is not to censor material; we support freedom of expression. Further, we want to protect the reputation of self-publishing as a whole. You have our promise that we will do all we can to ensure the exceptions that have caused this current situation will not have a lasting effect on what is an exciting new channel that connects Readers to a wealth of books. My Guest to discuss this on the special CENSORSHIP show is Cassandre Dayne, Elizabeth Black and others
