Community Conversations And The Yearning For Something Better

    in Culture

Anastasia and Jack reflect on the gains and insights accrued by the recently New Horizons sponsored Coffee House Conversations On Race Relations in Frederick County, Maryland. The coverage of the event by the Frederick News Post can be viewed here.

Anastasia offers that the gains she has experienced as the coordinator of the project have opened her eyes to the movement spreading throughout our country. She see growing numbers of citizens yearning to find ways to solve serious community problems by talking their way through them.

Jack offers a more conservative, less optimistic view, challenging efforts such as these as possibly being more of the same; talk but no significant action or change in sight.

Again, listeners are encouraged to join Anastasia and Jack for the informal discussion forum following the on-air broadcast at: Conference Call in: 712.432.0600, access code 640883.

Greetings God's people I am blessed that you have decided to join me in the studio for another uplifting broadcast. It is always an honor when I can speak about God's goodness and his love for his people..My guest this evening is David Murray from the best selling book The Happy Christian, David will discuss how hopelessness has invaded much of our culture, even reaching deep into the church.  But while the world is awash in negativity, Christians have resources to live different. In The Happy Christian, professor and pastor David Murray blends the best of modern science and psychology with the timeless truths of Scripture to create a solid, credible guide to positivity.  Murray exposes modern negativity’s insidious roots and presents ten perspective-changing ways to remain optimistic in a world that keeps trying to drag us down. The Happy Christian invites readers to shed negativity and become countercultural missionaries by demonstrating the positive power of the gospel in their lives.

    Mayweather & Espinoza Reveal Plans A, B & C

    in Sports

It seems like there is already a plan B in place in case the super fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is not made on the side of Floyd Mayweather. In an interview with The New York Daily News, Showtime Executive Stephen Espinoza says that Mayweather will fight May 2nd regardless of the outcome of Mayweather-Pacquiao.

“He’s definitely fighting on May 2,” Espinoza told the New York Daily News. “His first choice by far is Manny Pacquiao. If it becomes clear that that fight is not achievable, then he would move on to either Amir Khan or Miguel Cotto. He’s made it clear to us that Pacquiao is still his No. 1 priority, and that’s where all our energy is focused.”

While many people feel that time is running out to announce the big fight, Espinoza feels that while still urgent to get the deal done, there still is time to make the fight happen.

“I would say I’m optimistic that it can get done,” Espinoza said. “We have work to do to bridge the gap on important issues, but the most important thing is that Floyd genuinely wants it and wants it badly, and from everything I’ve heard and seen, Manny wants the fight as well.”
