Trick or treat or not to trick or treat? That is the question! There are many people who feel that Halloween is a demonic celebration, others believe that today Halloween is more of a secular holiday loaded with harmless fun for the family. Some church groups use the occasion to have celebrations of harvest, while others use the occasion to conduct Judgement House which is a christian example of a haunted house. Still, some churches put on some of the best “Haunted Houses” in the town. Originally, Halloween was part of a Celtic festival based from a Celtic celebration known as “Sanhain”, meaning “for the harvest”. This was a period after summer and before winter.
Halloween, even though there might be a demonic reality to October 31st, this has nothing to do with the harmless fun people give to Halloween. (Editors note) My point I am making here is that in no way are the vast majority of Americans who participate in Halloween activities are taking part in any Pagan, or Occultic rituals as some have proclaimed. The major concern continues to be that families go where it is safe to do so and follow the guidelines of their local establishments.
Because there are deranged individuals who prey upon the innocence, it is best to “trick or treat” in safe neighborhoods, church sponsored events, school lead events, even shopping malls that offer a safe environment for children.
Parents must be with their children at all times as they go house to house. Mom and Dad, as you plan to take your children out to have a good time, please give them the foundation of our holy Catholic Faith. If you do, you will be giving them a firm foundation.
In today's episode, blogger Sacerdotus speaks on Halloween or All Hallow's Eve. He explains the origin of this holiday and how it was once pagan and made Catholic. Sacerdotus gives some ideas on how to re-Christianize Halloween and gives tips on how to be safe when going out to trick or threat. Happy Halloween!

Some of the questions we often get asked by mothers who aspire to become entrepreneurs are: “How will I know if this is for me?” “Will I still have time for my family?” “I am unsure if this is what I am meant to do.”
There are many things to consider before you start your mompreneur journey. And if you’ve been and avid listener of Catholic Mompreneurs on Fire, you will recall that aside from the “business” side of mompreneurhood, there are also other things involved like childcare, dealing with distraction while working at home, etc.
But these are not meant to discourage you from dipping your toes into the water. Establishing a mom business is a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. And the road to mompreneurhood can be made bearable if you are guided by your faith.
In today’s episode Peggy O’Flaherty, founder of Creating Space, talks how having spiritual direction can address life’s everyday challenges—including those you encounter in your mom business.
LatinoTalk Texas is America's only daily independent political analysis from the Latino perspective. On today's show, I discuss the nature of Halloween or "All Hallows Eve" or "All Souls Day" which is a Catholic Holiday. Later, I discuss the importance of voting and voting independently. Do not vote a party line but vote for each candidate on their own merits and if you find no candidate you can trust, then vote for yourself as a write In candidate. The Latino vote is in the news because it is important and will soon control many elections. But for now, the Democrats don't care or respect you and the Republicans, controlled by the nativists at the Tea parties, simply hate and fear you. Don't trust either of them! Please see the terrific and humorous video by Al Madrigal seen on the Jon Stewart show. Read about the backlash against Obama, Hillary Clinton and other Democrats by Latino activists regarding inaction on Immigration Reform. I later read an essay by Ruben Navarette regarding Latino voting and he confirms we should vote independently! I also read a piece by Newt Gingrich regarding the wildly radical movements by Houston Mayor Annise Parker who is quietly pushing the Homosexual agenda in Houston and facing a backlash, responded with a lawsuit against pastors. Lastly, Pope Francis made remarks recently that were misinterpreted or flatly misrepresented by media types about science and the nature of creation which I discussed on my shows recently. I finish by commenting that Catholics are not "literalists" who believe, for example, the universe is only 6 thousand years old. Have a good weekend.
"Ask and you shall receive". We're familiar with Jesus' instruction, but we've all experienced those times when it doesn't appear to be true. Why would God say "no" to our requests? Are we doing something wrong? Are we misunderstanding the words of Jesus? Join Catholic Evangelist Gary Zimak for the first of a two part series addressing this confusing topic. Sometimes God does say "no", but it's not because He doesn't love us...it's because He does!
Author and Mafia writer Nicholas Denmon joins us on this episode. Tune in and enjoy!
Nicholas Denmon studied English at the University of Florida. He started story telling from the moment he could talk and has spent a lifetime perfecting the art.
His life has been varied, giving him no shortage of material. Some of his unique experiences include growing up with a schizophrenic mother, having six brothers and sisters (of which he is the middle-younger child), a perfectionist father, an evil step-mother, a college life to rival Tucker Max, and working for politicians on the Presidential as well as local stage. He has been, at times, a devout Catholic, a closet atheist, and an honorary member of the Jewish tribe.
Nick's joy of art knows little in the way of limitations, as he loves unique paintings, music, acting, film, and of course writing.
1 And there came one of the seven angels, who had the seven vials, and spoke with me, saying: Come, I will shew thee the condemnation of the great harlot, who sitteth upon many waters, 2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication; and they who inhabit the earth, have been made drunk with the wine of her whoredom. 3 And he took me away in spirit into the desert. And I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4And the woman was clothed round about with purple and scarlet, and gilt with gold, and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand, full of the abomination and filthiness of her fornication. 5And on her forehead a name was written: A mystery; Babylon the great, the mother of the fornications, and the abominations of the earth.
6 And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And I wondered, when I had seen her, with great admiration. 7 And the angel said to me: Why dost thou wonder? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast which carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns...

Oh my....how can this episode of "Hybrid Jazz From Trish Hennessey" be described? Let's try :) First, the FUN planned for you is too amazing for words. Carefully chosen songs for the season of Halloween - some funky, some scary - others sensual to create the mood. No tricks - only TREATS!
With that in mind, we give you the intense artistry of handsome and brilliant Juanito Pascual! Completely magnetic, this Minneapolis raised acoustic guitar master will sweep you into the embrace of his gift. National Public Radio has called him, "One of the hottest flamenco guitarists in recent years." For yours truly, this quote doesn't quite tell the story. Because, you see, Juanito is a flamenco HYBRID - cultivating the respect for a style that he clearly owns when he plays - but also paying homage to the heroes that he heard as learned to play - at age 11. Jimi Hendrix, Johann Sebastian Bach, Miles Davis and The Grateful Dead. His music is firmly rooted in traditions but he is not to be boxed. That passion spills over with Classical and Jazz and is influenced profoundly by Beatles and the beauty that he encounters in his many journeys - well before his 2003 debut solo, "Cosas en Comun."
From his stay in Spain where he learned to survive on the streets - to his return to the States to study at the New England Conservatory (graduating with honors!) - to the formation of the New Flamenco Trio in 2012 - Juanito Pascual is recognized as a formidable talent in both America and in Spain. Where major artists revere him as an equal.
There is so much to his story! And we'll get to all of it - but the main reason for Juanito's visit is to tell you of his tour in support of his new CD. We'll hear most amazing tracks...and The Chat Room will be well-stocked with virtual Halloween candy. And MAGIC (shhhhh!)
The Ghost Hunters, Psychic to the celebrity "Pat Oberlien" & American Exorcism?
The diocese in Italy is training priests to meet increasing demand for exorcisms.
Catholic churches in Italy and Spain are reportedly increasing the number of priests trained in performing exorcisms following a rise in occult practices.
The diocese of Milan recently appointed seven new exorcists and the Catholic church in Sardinia has sent three priests to Rome for exorcism training to deal with the increasing number of people partaking in practices such as black magic, paganism and Satanic rites, The Daily Telegraph has reported.
In Spain, the Archbishop of Madrid also selected eight priests to undertake exorcism training in May, according to the paper, to deal with an “unprecedented rise” in cases of “demonic possession”.
Increasing the number of priests who can perform exorcisms also comes as part of efforts by the Church to tackle self-proclaimed exorcists who perform unauthorised exorcisms.
Father Francesco Bamonte, the president of the Italy-based International Association for Exorcists told La Repubblica in December that there were not enough exorcists to help the number of people possessed. He said: “Diabolical possessions are on the increase as a result of people subscribing to occultism. We take you inside and you decide real or just bad acting
