Part 2: CUTV News Radio spotlights Catherine Oleksiw of Measured Transitions

    in Business

Plano, TX – Different emotions accompany change and all transition is fraught with emotional challenges. But if you can clear your emotional clutter, success is just around the corner.

“Life is about practicing. You can hold your head high and walk proud because you’re doing it,” says Dr. Catherine Oleksiw. “If you’re not important to yourself you won’t be able to extend yourself in a healthy way. You need to be grounded in motion, thoughtful action with feeling.”

Dr. Oleksiw is the founder and president of Measured Transitions, a coaching practice that supports organizations and individuals in building their capacity to change. Dr. Oleksiw coaches nonprofits and small businesses in strategic planning, program development and performance measurement. She coaches individuals, often within the work setting, in career development, especially in relation to transition or promotion within a company or organization.

“Quite often people feel as though they’ve hit a wall; that they’re stuck,” explains Dr. Oleksiw. “So it’s all about setting goals, determining what you want, your vision, and what resources you have available to you. Your life decisions should always be congruent with who you really are. The challenge sometimes is figuring out who you really are – or what you hope to be.”

Another Fork in the Road: Catherine & Dan's Reflections -Triking Across America

    in Education

It took Catherine (Cat) Brubaker and Dan Zimmerman 5 months and 5,300 miles to cross the USA (diagonally) on recumbent trikes. Blowouts, tumbles, and close encounters with bears and wild turkeys still left plenty of time to meet folks at the heart of our country. It also left time to get lost in one's own mind.

Cat and Dan rode to raise awareness for TBI and for Stroke, but I wonder what awareness they discovered within themsleves along their journey. And, I mean to find out. :)

Every TBI survivor and caregiver has encountered a fork in the road that has diverted his or her life-plan. A car accident, a fall from the roof, doing one more chin-up, or a door literally slamming one in the face are just some causes of traumatic brain injury. College plans, walking down the aisle in the perfect dress, or the coveted job quickly slip from reality as dreams turn to struggle. These unexpected life-happenings that divert one from his or her chosen path in life can be devastating. But as Yogi Berra once said, "If you come to a fork in the road, take it." Life is all about choices!

    Inside Visual Artist: Catherine Schuller

    in Art

Catherine Schuller is considered one of the pioneers of the full figured fashion industry.  She became a Ford Model in the 80’s when the industry was still forming and has risen to become the “go-to” person and industry liaison on all things “plus.”  The plus size modeling world helped her carve out a niche which allowed her to combine fashion and standup comedy with her style sense and talents for self-esteem promotion and marketing, eventually turning her into the premiere host, commentator and spokesperson for events targeted primarily at the full figured segment of the fashion market.

    Blessed Mary of Pisa

    in Religion

Rebroadcast of the long running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour", a presentation of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org

Blessed Mary of Pisa -- More often than not, the women saints that the Church venerates have been cloistered virgins. Blessed Mary of Pisa also founded a religious order, but like St. Elizabeth Seton, she did so as a widow. Unlike our American saint, she had been married twice and borne many children.

Catherine Mancini belonged to a distinguished family in Pisa, Italy, in the days when the great Italian cities were engaged in civil war against each other. The story is told of her that when she was only five, she had a sort of vision of the torturing of one Peter Gambacorta. He had been accused of political conspiracy and sentenced to be hanged. The legend says that the child, on experiencing the vision, prayed so hard for Peter that the rope by which he was being hanged broke, whereupon the judges commuted his death penalty. Our Lady then appeared to Catherine, the story continues, and told her to say seven Our Fathers and Hail Marys for Gambacorta every day, for he was going to become her benefactor in the years to come.
