Cate Lineberry is the author of "The Secret Rescue: An Untold Story About American Nurses and Medics Behind Nazi Lines".
Using exhaustive research and accounts from survivors, "The Secret Rescue" is one of the greatest forgotten stories of World War II. When twenty-six Army Air Forces flight nurses and medics board a military transport plane in November 1943, they never anticipate a crash landing in Nazi territory, or their ensuing months-long fight to survive.
Cate was a staff writer and Europe editor for National Geographic Magazine and the web editor for Smithsonian Magazine. Her work has also appeared in the New York Times. Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, she lives in the greater Washington, DC, area.
Bill welcomes writer and forward-thinker Cate Montana. Join Bill and Cate as they discuss Unearthing Venus: Search for the Woman Within, as well as all the books we write and the lives we lead. A fascinating conversation about what it means to be a woman, a man, and just plain human. Don't miss it!
Today I will be joined by Author Cate Montana. She wrote the wonderful book Unearthing Venus - My search for the woman within. This book really hits at the Heart of the problem. The male donminance of modern society. Where is the feminine energy and the caring? Cate was born in the post-war baby boom. Daughter and granddaughter of college-educated woman, she was steeped in the conservative values of 1950's upper-middle classs America. Cate later became a liberated woman. Beginning a career in broadcasting after college in 1973, she broke into the elite male bastion of sports television as a freelance editor within four years for NBC, ABC and CBS. By 1981 she was living the ulitmate vision of the second wave of feminist: fabulous career, gorgeous condo, an attentive lover and all the freedom in the world. But what she didn't know, and was soon to find out, was that being a successful woman didn't neccessarily mean being a success as a woman.
A long dark night of the soul followed the break-up of her second marriage. Then a chance encounter with a shaman changed everything. Challenged to plumb the depths of her own feminine nate, she began a quest that would take her from her comfortable home in rural Washington inthe the heart of the Amazon jungle, up the staggering peaks in the Andes, and halfway across the globe to the consecration of a temple to the Great Goddess in Southern India. Opening heart and mind, she surrendered to mysteries long unexplored and forgotten.... Join us today as we discuss the uncharted territories of the feminine soul, and travel from a conventional life to one of authenticity, deeper meaning, and ultimately the bliss of being alive.

Bailey :Directed by Cate Carson Written by Richard C Bailey & Kim Wilson & produced by Justin Plasse the independent short film cleave touches on a deeply personal and relate-able topic of remaining loyal to a toxic relationship and how it can tear you apart.
Today we will - lol - be joined by Cate Montana! We tried this yesterday and the Universe said 'not today'. Cate wrote a sensational book called Unearthing Venus - My Search for the Woman Within. This book is about the female energy disconnect and how important it is for the planet that woman start being spiritual beings again. The current system is male domination and submission of all human and nature - kill or be killed. This is backwards - the spirit is where our true nature resides and reconnecting to the earth means finding the femine power within. A chance encounter with a shaman and her journey to find that power began. I can't wait to talk to her! Please join in for the this important discussion. If you are reading this, the show did not happen! Today, blog talk had tech issues and we were not able to get phone lines working. Cate will be brought back on when Mindful Shift has its tech issues sorted out! Peace out, Andrea
