Did you know that the majority of Freedmen's Bureau records are now digitized and available online for free, as well as the records of other institutions that served newly-freed African Americans during Reconstruction? Angela Walton-Raji and Toni Carrier have built a new website called "Mapping the Freedmen's Bureau - An Interactive Research Guide" (www.mappingthefreedmensbureau.com) to assist researchers in locating and accessing records of the Freedmen's Bureau, Freedmen's hospitals, contraband camps and Freedman's Bank branches. Researchers can use the website's interactive map to learn which of these services were located near their area of research interest. If the records are online, the map provides a link to the records that tell the stories of newly-freed former slaves in the American south. The goal of this mapping project is to provide researchers, from the professional to the novice, a useful tool to more effectively tell the family story, the local history and the greater story of the nation during Reconstruction.
Angela Walton-Raji is an author, genealogist, guest lecturer and producer of the weekly African Roots Podcast and Toni Carrier is the Founder of LowcountryAfricana, a free website dedicated to African American genealogy and history in SC, GA and FL.

USS Lexington (CV 2), along with her sister ship, USS Saratoga (CV 3), were America's first real aircraft carriers, and genuine wonders of the world we were commissioned in the late 1920s. Converted from a pair of battlecruiser hulls made surplus by the Washington Naval Treaty, the two ships were the largest, most powerful, and fastest warships in the world. Able to carry and operate up to 90 aircraft, twice as many as any of the contemporary British and Japanese aircraft carriers, Lexington and her sister ship were the platforms where the U.S. Navy learned to take airpower out to sea. But Lexington was more than just a ship, for she also was a home and a schoolhouse for the men who served aboard her. As American's aircraft carrier fleet grew prior to World War II, Lexington and her sister were the ships where the men who would crew those new carriers learned their trades. In addition, some of the U.S. Navy's greatest leaders in World War II were captains aboard the Lexington, including Adm. Ernest J. King and Rear Adm. Forrest Sherman. And even though Lexington was lost at the Battle of the Coral Sea in May 1942, her loss taught critical damage control lessons that are still used today.

'Minerals, its function and the link to Aromatherapy'
Essential oil (except for a few exceptions) should never be used undiluted on the skin, and needs to be mixed with a carrier oil (also referred to as a base oil) to dilute the concentrated molecules and to help spread them over the surface of the skin, and this is done by diluting them in carrier oils. These oils are normally obtained by cold pressing and is inert - and not volatile as essential oils.
As a rule of thumb, you would normally need about 30 ml of carrier oil to perform a full body massage.
When essential oils are being used, they are mostly used in aromatherapy massage, since the ingestion of pure essential oils falls within the medical science gambit, and must not be undertaken by the lay person.
