The Treatment That Worked on Autistic Children - Gary Fisher Tells Truth

    in US Government

If not 42 minutes then wrong episode. Gary Fisher was born in Canada on June 2, 1931. He graduated with his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Utah and received further training from Al Hubbard with the Saskatchewan Group. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Fisher treated children ranging from the ages of four to thirteen who suffered from autism and schizophrenia with LSD and psychotherapy. While not all of his patients showed improvement, several of the children did benefit and showed marked improvement. Fisher also used LSD and psychotherapy to help dying patients. Once LSD was made illegal in 1962, Fisher had to cease his LSD research. He served as an assistant professor in the Division of Behavioral Sciences and Healthy Education in the School of Public Health at UCLA and has published several articles on his LSD research with autistic and schizophrenic children, as well as on his treatment of dying patients. Among his publications are “Some Comments Concerning Dosage Levels of Psychedelic Compound For Psychotherapeutic Experiences,” “Successful Outcome of a Single LSD Treatment in a Chronically Dysfunctional Man,” and “Treatment of Childhood Schizophrenia Utilizing LSD and Psilocybin.” Fisher, now living in southern California, is also an artist who states that his own psychedelic experiences influenced his art.

no more calling the Psycodelics I propose!

Tanya Tatum of The Tatum Talks on The Authentic Woman with Shannon Fisher

    in Women

Shannon's guest this week is Tanya Tatum, moderator and producer of The Tatum Talks.  The Tatum Talks began as a series of informal discussions on Facebook and later grew into an open forum for discussing topics affecting the African-American community. Prior to producing TTT, she was the co-Host and Producer for “Live in the Vocal Booth” on BKS1Radio, a show that focused on national headlines.  Tanya serves as a regular op/ed contributor to EURweb.com and has been featured on The Ricky Smiley Morning Show, Essence Magazine and UniteWomen.org. Tanya earned  B.B.A. in Marketing from James Madison University.

Tanya has a specific passion for the progression of African-Americans in this country, and tonight we will discuss issues about race that are often misunderstood.  We hope to open some eyes, educate some minds and open a dialogue that we hope will continue past this show.  The only way to understand the experience of another person is to hear it in their own words.  Tonight, the topic will be race relations and the differences in several women's issues between African Americans and Caucasians.
