Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is much more than a gray, smokey steel town. It is a vibrant and colorful city filled with rich history, culture and culinary goodies. The three rivers that meet at a point creates a flowing calming energy and provided the inspiration for Dutch artist Florentjn Hofman to select the city as her North American debut of his giant rubber duck. Today, we will give you a glimpse into this remarkable city as we explore Pittsburgh's rich history through attractions like the Senator John Heinz History Center, we'll walk through the streets of The Hill District and we'll relive Pittsburgh's industrial past as we tour the Carrie Blast Furnaces.
MERRITT WHITLEY BIO: It was something that started out as passion, and slowly ignited into a deep, unconditional love. Singing, and songwriting has been an influential part of Merritt Whitley’s life since the very beginning. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Merritt’s songs are reflections of her life, and stem from her personal experiences.
When Merritt was 15 years old, she wrote a song for the very first time. She was instantly hooked into the magic of writing her own music. However, she did not share her talent with anyone at first. It wasn't until later in high school that Merritt finally shared her music with the world, and received an incredibly positive, and unimaginable response.
Merritt enjoys performing, and has a way of drawing her audience into her life and music. Her songs are relatable, catchy, and paint a vivid picture. Merritt thoroughly enjoys writing about love, life, and everything in between, but most of all, sharing it with others.
Merritt’s musical inspirations range from artists such as Carrie Underwood, Colbie Caillat, Cassadee Pope, and Taylor Swift. She is currently working with an incredibly talented producer named Larry Gann, who has worked with some of the top artists in the industry.
Merritt will be releasing a brand new EP with four original songs within the next month. The title of her new single is "Goodbye" and it will be featured on iTunes with the rest of her music.

What Color Is Monday?
How Autism Changed One Family For The Better
In this moving memoir, What Color Is Monday?: How Autism Changed One Family For The Better (Feb, 2015), Carrie Cariello invites us to take a peek into exactly what it takes to get through each day juggling the needs of her whole family. Through hilarious mishaps, honest insights, and heartfelt letters addressed to her children, she shows us the beauty and wonder of raising a child who views the world through a different lens, and how ultimately autism changed her family for the better.
As a busy mom of five kids, four sons and one daughter, she chronicles family adventures and experiences; most of which we can all readily relate to. Her words so aptly describe the chaos of life within a big family, along with the quiet moments that seem so ordinary but are often extraordinary. She’s honest and funny, sometimes emotional, but always noticing the little things that often get overlooked in the course of a whirlwind of a day; and by the way, one of her sons, Jack, has autism.
Autism may be part of their daily lives, but it doesn’t define life within the Cariello family. The book’s title references a conversation Cariello had with her son Jack, who asked one day what color she saw for Monday. Until then, she had no idea that he saw all days as colors, and in retelling the story she said, “On a seemingly ordinary day, Jack once again granted me the privilege to take a tiny peek inside his fascinating mind.”
