#096 Elgin Allen - AIM Insurance - Minimizing Risk as a Volunteer School Assoc.

    in Education

The Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) Program is the largest school based father engagement program in the nation with nearly 4000 schools participating.

Each week, WatchDOGS Radio host Keith Schumacher and co-host Chris Danenhauer discuss how this program is impacting families and schools across our nation and in three foreign countries.

Elgin Allen is the CEO of Association Insurance Management (AIM) of Dallas, Texas. Founded in 1989, Association Insurance Management (AIM) is a national marketing organization specializing in assisting associations to provide benefits and services to their members.  Our focus is in creating quality insurance programs for educationally based non-profit associations.  The program provides coverage for activities such as concession stands, car washes, t-shirt sales, fun runs, carnivals and other parent group sponsored activities.

With over 14,000 parent groups currently insured, we have developed a niche program with PTAs, PTOs, Education Foundations and Booster Clubs that is unique in the insurance industry.  AIM currently maintains 54 endorsements in 40 states specializing in association-endorsed programs.  These endorsements include State Parent Teacher Associations and The Texas Associations of Community Schools, which include over 700 school districts or institutional members.  To this date, AIM is proud to note it has never lost an association endorsement.

AIM is proud of the relationships that have been created with each of its associations and is committed to fostering those relationships for years to come.

AMERICAN MENTORS: The Morning After American Independence

    in Youth

Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain (now officially known as the United Kingdom). Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States.

Waking up on the morning after...Roughly two-thirds of Black and one-third of Hispanic children live with only one parent.   Moreover, research suggests that a father's absence increases the risk of his Black child dropping out of school by 75 percent.  And even in the 21st Century information age, too many Americans still live in poverty.  If you have read the report to The President of the United States, we’d like to hear your thoughts on My Brother’s Keeper.  We're looking at the symbols, practices and promises that strengthen our communities and secure our nation.  July 5th, the Morning after American Independence on YouthUSA Radio www.YouthUSA.net.

    in Culture

We'll discuss the horrific practices in history in which human beings who were viewed as being less than human, because of their origin, deformity, or disability, were put on display in zoos and carnivals around the world.

Today is our 23rd episode in this series - Featuring 2 experts on: Green and ethical music.     - Michael White was a professional hockey player, who once played for the Detroit redwings, among other teams – but when that career ended he became lost and depressed and in this state of disorientation issues from the past crept back in his mind and he spent some time on the street. Michael grew up outside of his culture in a foster home, and he now works to build a gap between the aboriginal world, the world on the street, and the rest of the world. He shares his passion for making a difference and closes with a beautiful poem about adoption. Today he is an artist, musician & performer; he facilitates drum building & culture bridging workshops & lectures to a variety of youth groups.
