BJ Norris Shoot in Ecuador and my first Steel Challenge. Since then, it’s been an incredible ride that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I did make one departure from the shooting sports in 2009 when I decided to enlist in the U.S. Army. Unfortunately, I found out about a previously unknown problem with my lower back during Basic Training, and was discharged in early 2010. Fortunately, it’s not a particularly serious problem, and my main limitation is just not being able to put on a 50 lb ruck and march for 10 miles. In the past couple years, I’ve been very blessed to receive some great support from my sponsors, friends and family that have allowed me to focus on competitive shooting.

Jerome and Jimmy Ali - The Brothers Ali visit This Side of the River - Part II

    in Music

    LIVE with The Brothers Ali!

Jimmy and Jerome Ali are the twin sons of Brenda and the late Jimmy Ali, Sr., an avid jazz enthusiast and pianist Born in Detroit, Michigan at a time when Barry Gordy's Motown Sound was igniting the world. They embraced R&B music and such great jazz artist as Charlie Parker, Eddie Harris, Stan Getz and Art Blakey.

As young teens, Jimmy & Jerome were organizing "jam sessions!". All of the neighborhood musicians would come & wait their turn to jam with "the twins". Their Dad Jimmy Ali Sr., had an, open door policy allowing neighborhood teens to come over & rehearse so that they could form bands & perform at the High schools & local hot spots with the Ali Boys. Some awesome talent emerged from that basement on Littlefield Street. Mr. Ali (Bart) as he was affectionately called, had a tough policy to abide by~ NO DRUGS, NO DRAMA!! And yes, he WOULD enforce it.

Jimmy and Jerome have shared the stage and recorded with such diverse artist as: Carlos Santana, George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic, Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, Earl Klugh, Buddy Miles and the Doobie Brothers, to name a few.

Jimmy and Jerome, known professionally as the Brothers Ali, have performed at the Las Vegas Hilton, Mandalay Bay, Paris, Caesars, Aladdin, Stardust Hotels, Lake Las Vegas, and the Green Valley Resorts: "The District" They also appeared at the 1st Annual Newport Pacific Jazz Festival on 8-28-05 in Las Vegas and performs at Town Square Live! & the Ritz Carlton. They have also performed at The Wynn Hotel for Mrs. Wynns private dinner party & at the Mirage 8/08 for The Michael Jordan Foundation for the 4th consecutive year. Objective: To understand and  trust in the Holy Spirit's leading as you witness.

    Memory Verse: John 15:26,27

    Read Ephesians 5 & 6

    A) Read Acts 6 & 7

Count the times the Holy Spirit is mention. How many?
What part did the Holy Spirit play in Stephen's life?
What part the spiritual indictment upon his hearers which cut them to their heart?
As a Spirit-filled man, Stephen had two purposes which were his greatest concerns, as seen in his desire to witness and in dying prayer. What were they?
How does these concerns show the fulness of the Holy Spirit in Stephen (Galatians 5:22,23 & 2 Corinthians 5:14,15)?

Discussion with Diane Markham, ACB/ALS Division F Director and host Carlos Lewis

    in Self Help

Welcome to the Praisemasters Talk Radio show with host Carlos Lewis.
Carlos became a Toastmasters in 2008. He is a charter member of Praisemasters Club #1142290, where he has served as Treasurer, VP of Education and President. During 2013-2014, he served District ONE Toastmasters as an Area Governor. His term resulted in his area achieving the highest honor, President's Distinguished. Carlos has currently achieved the Toastmasters designations of Advanced Communicator Silver and Advanced Leader Silver.

We have a great show lined up for you with special guest Diane Markham, ACB/ALS Division  F Director.  When she first joined, she was fearful of speaking in front of people. As she always says, “It’s one thing to talk to your friends, 1-on-1, but it’s something else when you stand in front of a lectern and people. With the passage of time, her confidence level has soared and she feels better about speaking, and enjoys every minute of her Toastmasters journey. She has met some “cool” and supportive people along the way. She says Toastmasters is per passion. She also says she has found her purpose. Her goal is to share with people her experience and tell why Toastmasters means so much to her.

Diane has stepped out of her comfort zone and has taken on leadership roles. She feels it is her time to shine. She has been an Assistant Area Governor, Area Governor, and this past May 2015, she was elected Division Director. She is working hard to get her Distinguished Toastmasters designation by spring 2016.

She has always heard that if you don’t step out of your comfort zone, you’ll never know what else is out there for you. Diane is a member of several Toastmasters Clubs – Praisemasters, Deluxe, OMG Karaoke, and Inglewood Visionaries. Music: http://www.bensound.com
