A lot is written about seeing our parents through dementia, but not much is available to discuss what it takes to deal with parents who might need our assistance, but who still have all their faculties. How do we finesse a parent who wants to maintain their independence into moving nearer to us; into giving us Power of Attorney to take care of their healthcare and financial needs; to accept daily help? How do we do this while allowing them to maintain their dignity?
With honesty and insight borne of experience, through Elderly Parents With All Their Marbles: A Survival Guide for the Kids, author Pam Carey shares her personal journey as well as the (humorously serious) "Rules of the Road" she developed while caring for her parents.
Anyone who has ever had to care for elderly parents will see their own situations reflected in this witty yet practical guide to surviving the ordeal. You will feel like you’re right by Pam's side as she outlines 49 essential points for navigating the trials of elderly living, the medical issues and the inevitable loss that eventually comes. She illustrates each point with her own sometimes hilarious and often poignant experiences.
This book is a must-read as a resource for anyone dealing with assisting an aging loved one. Please consider purchasing a copy as a gift for a friend, care facility or YOUR children.
Pam wrote the book as a resource for others facing similar journeys. She is also the author of Minor League Mom, A Mother's Journey Through the Red Sox Farm Teams (2009). The mother of Red Sox farm team veterans Tim and Todd Carey, Pamela holds a B.A. from Colby College and an M.A. from Columbia University Teachers College.

Lorraine Carey wears several hats: veteran Children’s Reading Specialist, teacher, book reviewer, and author. After years of reading with children and gaining the knowledge of what they like, she began to crave the inspiration to write for them. With the desire to inspire middle grades through high school and beyond, she began to write Paranormal and Mystery stories. She loved ghost stories as a child.
As a Children’s Reading Specialist Lorraine knows how important comprehension is to enjoying a story. Thus, she has created FREE comprehension worksheets on her site to download to accompany both of her novels. Lorraine also offers Free Skype Sessions which anyone can arrange with her upon request.
Because Lorraine finds that the Middle Grade-to-Young-Adult audience the age group that she wants to inspire, she writes mostly for them. Additionally, Lorraine seems to have developed a knack for discovering strange historical facts and knows how, with a twist of magic, to morph them a Paranormal story.
Having taught in several of the United States has given Lorraine a vast background knowledge of different cultures and teaching modalities. Some of her teaching experiences took place in Ohio, Arizona, New Mexico, California, and currently in the Grand Cayman where she resides with her husband and their dog, Matty. 40 years after it left the air, "The Brady Bunch" is still as popular and beloved by fans all over the world. Now, in celebration of the upcoming Brady Bunch Convention on August 15-17 at The Hilton Meadowlands in New Jersy, "Flashback With Carey Fisher" welcomes Susan Olsen, Geri Reischl and Jennifer Runyon Corman back to talk about the upcoming festivities and what it means to be a part of one of the most famous families in television history.

Geri is also a talented singer whose latest album is "1200 Riverside".

On a fateful day back in October of 2013 a woman driving with her child was shot and killed by police during a brief "chase" through the streets of Washington, D.C. The case held the attention of many at the time as via technology we were actually able to see most of the incident live. Many watched in horror as the car navigated through the streets of this nation's capital was fired upon and Ms. Carey was eventually shot and killed in a hail of gunfire by local law enforcement. Heartbreakingly her child was found to be a passenger in the car but was unharmed physically. The story seemingly faded and had not been followed up by main stream media outlets - however we did not forget Miriam Carey and we are pleased to have the attorney representing the family Eric Sanders on tonight's show to discuss the facts of this case.
