    in Lifestyle

Kick your week off with Mentoring Monday, presented by 4wordwomen.org.

"How to say "no" and enjoy it." Women, especially, have a difficult time turning down requests from loved ones, organizations, work, etc. This can cause a sense of overwhelm, stress, and dissatisfaction. Learning how to say no and being confident in the why, can be a glorious thing. I wish I had learned this skill at a younger age, but it is never too late!

Jennifer Spaulding is a mentor, life coach, speaker, and illuminator of single women. She has over 20 years of personal development, corporate, and community experience. She equips single women with targeted tools, insights, and inspiration to spark transformational growth so they may access abundant love and joy. Career highlights include helping single women create radiant lives, raising millions for charitable causes, building executive communities for Fortune 500 leaders and developing a thriving mentor program that has served over 180 people.

Jennifer is a Founding Fellow of the Institute of Coaching at McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School Affiliate, and is a trained Martha Beck life coach. Provodnikov-Matthysse, Crawford-Dulorme, Chavez Jr.-FonFara Review

    in Sports

In the most highly anticipated fight thus far in 2015, Lucas Matthysse and Ruslan Provodnikov squared off in an incredibly gutsy fight live from Tunring Stone in Verona, New York.

The fight started off in Matthysse’s favor, although the first round could be considered a feel out by their standards, even though it had plenty of action compared to the average opening round. Matthysse kept Provodnikov in check and kept getting loser and looser as the round went on.HBO card was one of the most anticipated in quite some time, but the evening’s co-feature was deserving of some attention, too, although it was lost a bit on the main event. In the televised co-feature, Omaha’s favorite boxer, Terrance “Bud” Crawford, stepped up to junior welterweight for the first time and took on Thomas Dulorme.

The perception was that Crawford was the high ranked fighter worth the world-class tag, while Dulorme was the highly skilled fighter that would never live up to his original aspirations. Crawford, who struggled to make weight in his last 135lb title defense, stayed patient early and allowed Dulorme to dictate based on output.Over on ShowTime tonight, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. headlined in a fight against Andrzej Fonfara live from the StubHub Center in Carson, California. It was Chavez’s first fight back from a year long layoff.

Fonfara looked really god from the opening bell, while Chavez Jr. spent more time complaining than fighting. Fonfara stayed planted and threw meaningful shots, putting together impressive combos. Chavez wasn’t very methodical with his offense, but instead he was hoping that he could overwhelm Fonfara at some point.

Inspiration Nation invites Mary Jane Cronin, author of A Caregiver Connection

    in Books

Inspiration Nation welcomes fellow Tampa Bay writer, Mary Jane Cronin, author of A Caregiver Connection

With people living somuch longer these days, the result is often "longer not better" with ailments and limitations requiring someone to step in and help with personal care. Proving care and support to both mychildren and my parents with a little extra padding on the hips for goodmeasure.  A Caregiver Connection was created following my ten years working with hospice. Realizing that caregiver, both personal or family caregivers and professionals who work in the healthcarefield often ignore their own care and go into providing care with littlepreparation. This guidebook offers chapters on exploring your feelings as acaregiver, self-care, and types of care communities and how to get help at homewhen you are trying to do it all alone.

Mary Jane Cronin LMHC  founded Cronin Counseling and Coaching in the fall of 2014 to help fill a serious void in the mental health service field.  During her ten years of practice working with Suncoast Hospice, Mary Jane repeatedly observed that many caregivers and other adults encountered significant obstacles to accessing quality and consistent mental health care.  Recognized that many people are unable to visit a counseling office, they could however, be open to treatment in the comfort of their own homes. Offering services for elderly adults who are living in care communities or their family members who need support seemed like a logical solution.

Why Caregivers Find it So Stressful Dealing with Healthcare Providers & Agencies

    in Caregiving

Join Dave Nassaney, The Caregiver’s Caregiver, as he interviews Author, Carol Levine, the director of The Families and Health Care Project at The United Hospital Fund, a health services research and philanthropic organization whose primary mission is to shape positive change in health care for the people of New York (and elsewhere).

Their campaign, Next Step in Care, provides easy-to-use guides to help family caregivers and health care providers work closely together to plan and implement safe and smooth transitions for chronically or seriously ill patients.

Transitions are moves between care settings, for example, hospital to home or rehab facility, or the start or end of home care agency services. Because transitions are often rushed, miscommunication and errors can occur.

Her book, Living in the Land of Limbo: Fiction and Poetry about Family Caregiving, is a first-of-its-kind anthology of short stories and poetry about family caregiving by renowned authors and others has just been published. Compiled and edited by Carol Levine, and published by Vanderbilt University Press, the new volume is a valuable addition to the national discussion on family caregiving and to the Fund’s work, which has focused on improving partnerships between caregivers and health care professionals since 1996.
