Who are the most important people in your life?
The most popular answer to that question is: “My family.” For most of us, “family” represents those individuals who believe in us and trust us to provide them with the necessities of life.
I now ask you to begin thinking of your family as your Personal Board of Directors. These are the people to whom you have the greatest responsibility and who will benefit the most from your successful job search. They are also the individuals who endure hardship if your search is unproductive and there’s no other source of income. Put another way, your Personal Board of Directors deserves to have you working at nothing less than peak performance during your search.
That’s why learning to detach from the grip of The Black Hole is so essential. While The Black Hole is a no-brainer to use, that personal comfort level comes with a steep price tag: no acknowledgement of resumes and cover letters, no status updates via e-mail or phone calls, and no invitations for interviews … just to name a few. And getting miserable results like that does nothing to support your Personal Board of Directors.
Tune in each and every Tuesday 8am PST/ 9am MST / 10am CST /11am EST

To help your career...DEVELOP A STRONG PERSONAL BRAND!
Imagine, you'e invited to a launch event. A company is presenting a new mission and vision for the future of their company. How would you dress? How would you imagine the people there?
Now picture a competitive company launching a similar new vision and new direction and you're invited. You would arrive quite differently, right?
Amazing how a simple logo or name can instantly build a whole image in your mind. In your mind's eye you'e able to imagine how the people behave, dress up and interact. You can even imagine their hobbies. This is the POWER OF A BRAND.
Your PERSONAL BRAND represents HOW OTHERS SEE YOU!
Your PERSONAL BRAND...etc.
When someone hears your name...etc.
YOU ARE YOUR OWN BRAND...etc.
Global Product Management Talk is pleased to bring you episode 012 of...
The Everyday Innovator with host Chad McAllister, PhD.
The podcast is all about helping people involved in developing and managing products become more successful, grow their careers, and STANDOUT from their peers.
Our Guest: David Paulson has over 20 years of product development experience and still remembers his first day at work. That’s when he found out how inefficient the product development process was. He’s been working to fix that ever since.
Highlights from the discussion include:
Apply Lean product development to cut time to market in half and create successful products – something all innovators want to know how to accomplish!
Lean has many different definitions, but in the product development context, it has three specific characteristics: (1) focus on value to the customer, (2) rapidly learn, and (3) maximize desired results while minimizing effort.
In addition to the benefits of creating more profitable products, applying Lean product development also impacts the organizational culture, resulting in happier and more effective employees.
First time David applied Lean product development to a project, the time-to-market decreased from the expected 30 months to 12 months, finished 20% under budget, and generated an additional $3 million profit by being early to market.
Good books on the topic of Lean product development are from Don Reinersten, including “Managing the Design Factory” and “The Principles of Product Development Flow.” Read “Managing the Design Factory” first.
