Academy Award Nominee for Captain Phillips Dana Brunetti

    in Entertainment

NWP welcomes the Executive Producer of the Academy Award nominated movie "Captain Phillips", Dana Brunetti!

Captain Phillips is a multi-layered examination of the 2009 hijacking of the U.S. container ship Maersk Alabama by a crew of Somali pirates.  It is — through director Paul Greengrass’s distinctive lens — simultaneously a pulse-pounding thriller, and a complex portrait of the myriad effects of globalization.  The film focuses on the relationship between the Alabama’s commanding officer, Captain Richard Phillips (two time Academy Award®-winner Tom Hanks), and the Somali pirate captain, Muse (Barkhad Abdi), who takes him hostage.  Phillips and Muse are set on an unstoppable collision course when Muse and his crew target Phillips’ unarmed ship; in the ensuing standoff, 145 miles off the Somali coast, both men will find themselves at the mercy of forces beyond their control.

Dana talks about the filming of this movie and his other upcoming projects including Evel Knievel, House of Cards and Fifty Shades of Grey.

    Profile:Chris Burdon/Sound Mixer/Oscar Nom/Captain Phillips/Philomena

    in Movies

Re-recording mixer Chris Burdon was recently nominated for an Academy Award and a BAFTA Award for his Sound Mixing work on the Paul Greengrass directed film, Captain Phillips. In recent years he has worked on numerous high profile and critically acclaimed flms. His many credits include Corpse Bride, Kick-Ass, Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows, Anna Karenina, The Counselor and Philomena to name but a few. It was during his Television mixing in the early nineties that Chris was able to begin making strong contacts on the Feature Film side of the industry. The De Lane Lea studios contained both Television and Feature mixing rooms which made it the perfect environment to move freely between many different projects. Sound editorial team Phaze UK, who had previously worked on Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch for Producer Matthew Vaughn, became strong allies which led to an extremely long and successful relationship with Matthew Vaughn in his role as Film director. One early film Chris mixed as part of that team was Layer Cake directed by Matthew Vaughn and starring Daniel Craig. In recent years Chris has concentrated mainly on mixing Feature Films and the recent acquisition of De Lane Lea by Warner Bros has increased the range of opportunities available to him. You can email your questions to 123filmeasy@gmail.com  or Follow us on Twitter @123Film

  • We are AMERICA damnit! . . . We do not give in to terrorists or despots!

    in Politics

The releasing of al Qaida prisoners back into the wild for a deserter,  releaswing Cuban murderer's back to Cuba,  the Left's "Torture Report" and now Sony Pictures cancels their new movie "The Interview".  Granted the movie looks really bad and I was especially alarmed that they would even try and suggest that the N. Korean dictator is a "Nice Guy", even for only one line, is Unacceptable.  We do not paint our enemies as "Nice Guys" . . . PERIOD.  Yes, his butterball head explodes at the end, which might make this movie a little interesting . . . for a brief second or two.  However, for us as American's, we do not give into terrorist threats of any kind.  Yes, we take them seriously, but to give in to their demands is surrendering to the enemy.  Shame on you Sony Pictures, one for making a really stupid movie, and second for cowering to our enemy.  That's treason in my book!
