Dr. Williams has had an interest in medical research at an early age. After watching his grandmother struggle with breast cancer, he set out on a journey to find a cure. In college, Dr. Williams spent his spare time in the labs and library researching gene therapy. He won many awards for his efforts.

After receiving his Medical Degree from LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport, Dr. Williams became interested in a new concept: destroying cancer cells by using radiofrequency ablation of tumors. This procedure used the same minimally-invasive technique of using imaging to guide the needle straight into the tumor and instead of biopsying the tumor, it was heated and destroyed. This was already being done in the liver at other research hospitals, but was relatively new to other areas of the body.

It didn't take long for the word to spread about this new procedure, and Dr. Williams was performing ablations on many patients around the world. He won many awards including the Radiological Society of North American Resident / Fellow of the Year.

As one of the pioneers of cancer ablation, Dr. Williams founded The American Cancer Ablation Center in 2003 and began seeing patients at his office in Gulf Shores. He takes pride in being able to offer his patients the latest, most advanced medical imaging technology and procedures available to date.

How Will New Imaging Techniques & Genomic Tests Help In Diagnosis & Management

    in Health

Recent advances in prostate cancer has led to the discovery of many new imaging and genomic tests. Information on the new tests and techniques can help patients in making informed decisions regarding their prostate cancer diagnosis, treatments and management options and thereby contribute towards managing their disease efficiently and effectively. We are talking to prostate cancer expert Dr. David Lee of UPENN to better understand how the new techniques can help in making these decisions.

David I. Lee, MD, is Chief of the Division of Urology at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and Associate Professor of Surgery, Division of Urology, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Lee was Director of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery with Urology Associates of North Texas, the largest urology private practice group in the country. He specializes in robotic surgery including robotic prostatectomy. Fellowship-trained and having served as an instructor for many physicians across the country in robotic prostatectomy, he is one of the nation's foremost practitioners of the procedure. Dr. Lee currently serves as an active member of the American Urological Association, the Endo-urological Society and the American Medical Association. He holds editorial positions with a number of medical publications, including Journal of Endo-urology, Urology and European Urology. He has published over 100 articles, abstracts and book chapters in the field of minimally invasive urology.

Brett Favre makes NFL Hall of Fame on first ballot and heads the class of 2016

    in Sports

Brett Favre leads the NFL Hall of Fame class for 2016. Favre was voted in on the first ballot, and becomes the 24th Green Bay Packer to be selected. The Chicago Bears lead all teams with 27 players enshrined. The class of 2016 will enshrine eight people that includes one owner, one coach, two quarterbacks (including Favre), a wide receiver, two offensive lineman, and one defensive player.

The late Ken Stabler joins Favre at the quarterback position. Stabler known as the "Snake" passed away last July from cancer. He led the Oakland Raiders to the Lombardi Trophy in 1977. Owner Edward DeBartolo Jr will also be enshrined for his contributions to the NFL. Tony Dungy became the first African-American to win a Super Bowl. Marvin Harrison still holds the single season reception record of 143 and was a member of Dungy's Super Bowl winning team. Orlando Pace was a giant among men on the offensive line and is joined by the late Dick Stanfel who played for the Detroit Lions. With Stanfel being elected to the Hall of Fame, Packer fans may be shaking their head wondering why the great Jerry Kramer still has not received his validation. Finally, the lone defensive player elected was Kevin Greene. Greene recorded 160 sacks while playing for four teams. He started his career in 1985 with the Los Angeles Rams and ended his 15 year career in Carolina.
