Obama continues showing his true color...Red. Theater goers also seeing red.

    in Politics Conservative

Americans and the rest of the world are waking up to some shocking news.

    1) Emporer Obama (I refuse to disrespect the title and position of President) is again making moves to "fundamentally change America". One thing you can say about this guy is he is keeping his campaign promises.

    2) North Korean cyper-hackers have blackmailed the movie theater industry into yanking a political satire movie. Freedom of speech and expression taking another hit by communism.

Isn't it a great day in America?

America is truly "In the Pickle Barrel".

See you at 8AM-10AM EST as we discuss these issues and others as we try to find a way to get out of the proverial pickle barrel.

Lose Weight with MJ & Sin City MJ Attraction

    in News

Three years ago, Las Vegas police and the Chamber of Commerce prevailed upon Mandalay Bay Hotel/Casino to cancel Cannapalooza, an extravagant large exposition that had rented their exhibition hall and about a thousand hotel rooms. Now that marijuana will be sold in dispensaries to locals and visitors alike everything has changed. Hal Lewis, founder and director of the recently opened Las Vegas Cannabis Information Center reviews how this remarkable about-face came into being and how the center is becoming Las Vegas’s hottest new attraction.

Marijuana munchies is the mantra, but far from sending users on a food binge, many report that marijuana can actually help in weight management and weight loss. Our second guest is Karen Pike who went from nearly 500 pounds to 250 pounds and marijuana played a significant role in her weight loss. Karen will relate how marijuana helped her lose weight when nothing else worked and reveal the program she followed to make it happen.

Dr. Vladas Griskevicius: How to make wiser choices by using Deep Rationality

    in Psychology

Amy Alkon's Advice Goddess Radio: "Nerd Your Way To A Better Life!" with the best brains in science.

("Best Of" replay.) Decisions that we make that seem stupid can actually make a lot of evolutionary sense, meaning that they would have made sense in the ancestral world; they just don’t make sense in the world in which we now live.

Unfortunately, we can’t just tell our genes, “Hey, it’s 2013! There are no hungry tigers roaming the streets of Baltimore and, by the way, my girlfriend’s on The Pill.”

But, my guest tonight, evolutionary psychologist, psychologist and marketing professor Dr. Vladas Griskevicius, is going to give us the background to make wiser choices by helping us understand the ways we can be primed to act against our modern interests.

His fascinating book, co-authored with Dr. Douglas Kenrick, is “The Rational Animal: How Evolution Made Us Smarter Than We Think.”

Join me and all my fascinating guests every Sunday, 7-8 p.m. Pacific Time, 10-11 p.m. Eastern Time, at blogtalkradio.com/amyalkon or subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher.

My show's sponsor is Audible.com. Get a free audiobook download and support this show financially at no cost to you by signing up for a free 30-day trial at audibletrial.com/amya (It's $14.95 after 30 days, but you can cancel before then and have it cost you nothing.)

Please order my new book, the science-based and funny "Good Manners For Nice People Who Sometimes Say F*ck," -- only $9.48 at Amazon.
