    CM Radio - Apr 29, 2015 - I Mother Earth, Smashing Satellites

    in Music

It's a pleasure having I Mother Earth's Brian Byrne on the show, especially since we get to chat about the band's upcoming appearance at the Unison Jam on May 6th at the Phoenix Concert Theatre. The money raised during the initiative, which also features the likes of Finger Eleven, Kim Mitchell, k-os, Jason McCoy, The Trews, and many others, will go to the Unison Benevolent Fund and help those in the music industry during their time of need.

As for IME, they're currently promoting their hot new single, "The Devil's Engine" at radio. Fans will also have a chance to hear it from the stage during some summer performances, including a slot at WTFest in Brantford, ON on June 13th.

We also have singer/songwriter/guitarist Salvatore Costa on the show, speaking about his project Smashing Satellites. The band's EP debut, SonicAluzion A-Side, dropped last fall and the buzz has been building quickly. Smashing Satellites is taking part in the May 8th edition of Generation Next Live during Canadian Music Week. We'll chat about the show and the band's impressive success of late.

    Dear CFL Fans:
As I wrap up my first official day on the job, I’m checking in with my new bosses.
That's you, our fans. All of us who work on behalf of this league are ultimately accountable to you.You support our teams. You cheer on our players. You help make us better. So we really do work for you.I want to start my tenure here by thanking you for the opportunity to contribute to a league that is growing, strong, and primed for an even more exciting future. Also, many thanks for the personal well wishes so many of you have already conveyed to me and my family.
And most of all, I want to express how grateful I am to you for the passion you have for our game.I have been fortunate enough to play, coach, and work in sports most of my life; I have seen kids hit their first home run, a Dream Team take over an Olympic Games, the donation of sports equipment help to transform some of the most disadvantaged communities in the world.
And I will say, the energy you bring to the CFL, your bond with our athletes, and your desire to come together at Grey Cups and all year round, is truly unique.I’m honoured to work for you and with you!The draft and training camps and the season are all rapidly approaching. It’s going to be a great year. I look forward to seeing you soon where we both want to be… at a CFL stadium, on game day.

    Dallas Smith & John Conlee

    in Music

    Dallas Smith

British Columbia's Dallas Smith has skyrocketed to the very top of the Country music scene. His 2012 debut album entitled Jumped Right In generated 5 singles in the Canadian Hot 100, including the GOLD selling title-track, garnered five CCMA  Award nominations and was nominated for Country Album of the Year at the 2013 JUNO Awards. Following a slew of sold out tour dates with Florida Georgia Line and Bob Seger, Dallas released 2013's Tippin' Point EP making his debut in the U.S. and setting the bar high while representing Canadian Country music's cutting edge sound. Amassing national appeal, he earned three 2014 CCMA Award nominations including Single, Album and Male Artist of the Year and is the first Canadian country artist to have 8 singles reach the Top 10 at radio in Canada. Lifted - the latest album from Dallas Smith featuring the #1 single "Wastin' Gas" - reunites him with prized producer Joey Moi (Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen).

    John Conlee

Country legend John Conlee’s success began in the late 1970s. His first release, “Back Side Of Thirty” went nowhere fast. Three more singles also met with a minimum success, although they all charted. But in March of 1978, the label released “Rose Colored Glasses,” a song John wrote, which became a huge hit as well as becoming his signature song. In January of 1979, the label re-released “Back Side of Thirty” which went on to become a No. 1 record, and the hits continued. The Conlee hit list includes songs like “Lady Lay Down,” “Friday Night Blues,” “Miss Emily’s Picture,” “Busted,” “I Don’t Remember Loving You.” John has just released an album called Classics 2 featuring many of his big hits. His latest single is called "Walkin' Behind The Star."
