• Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 990

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Yanette (Lola Lola) Novoa, LCSW, from Miami, a child abuse survivor who studied psychology at Florida International University and is now writing a guide related to the issues of child abuse and trauma. Lola is the Founder and Director of Find The Way, LLC, and is publishing a new guide related to learning how to heal from child abuse and trauma. She says, "I know the pain, I know how it feels." Lola's childhood was taken away. She had been assaulted and raped from the age of 4 to the age of 12, ending in an illegal abortion at 12 in the presence of the perpetrator who forever changed her life. The new guide book, "Dare to Let Go and "Thrive": A Self Help Guide for Learning to Thrive After Experiencing Sexual Abuse", will be out next year. It invites the reader to learn the fundamental difference between "Thriving" versus surviving. Surviving is being able to function within a society. "Thriving" leads to living a meaningful life. Former victims of sexual assault can use the steps and strategies in this self help guide to point the way in becoming the thriving individual they are meant to be. Ms Novoa believes the key to all malice is "Prevention." In the long run, it is easier and cheaper to prevent than to treat. She specializes in working and assisting individuals of all ages that have suffered sexual abuse and are in need of finding their way to living a more meaningful life via different therapeutic techniques. Lola says, "I put together this guide mainly to .. give you some techniques to solve your own problems related to the long term effects of sexual abuse that you are carrying with you either consciously or unconsciously .. to be the thriving individual that you were meant to be.

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 989

    in Self Help

SPECIAL TOPIC Night - "For Our Kids" - Deborah Maddison, and Tracy Baxter, Canadian activists from British Columbia, will lead this evening's discussion about the Rights of Children and Families in North America. They'll present the topic "Mass 'Murder' by Family Court." Joining them will be advocates Anthony Brasher, Vincent Shiele and Vernon Beck to discuss the tragedies and failures of the Family Court System. The epidemic of systemically being abused by family courts has caused many injured individuals to take their own lives, or sometimes the lives of others. In fact, thousands are attempting (or succeeding) at taking their own lives in desperation every year. As a result of the system's failures, an incredible 79% of people involved in the Family Court System report experiencing some form of health injury, whether physical, mental and / or emotional. We will be discussing some of the horrific cases of suicides and murder-suicides that come out of our structurally violent family court system, and how, at so many levels, these tragedies could have been prevented. We will also hear from special guest Ashlee White Blandford, daughter of Darin White, from Prince George, British Columbia. His suicide in March of 2000 was a huge eye-opener to many, highlighting the brutalizing effects of our Family Court System. ~~ Every two weeks a new THEME will be presented in this series, with frequent special guests speaking from their own experience. ~~ Please see our web page at: www.NAASCA.org/ForOurKids or write to: naasca.forourkids@gmail.com

    Mud Toe at Midnight...

    in Spirituality

Mud Toe Sasquatch has been a researcher, a materials scientist, a product developer, a quality assurance manager, a schoolteacher, a house painter, a salesman, and amateur actor and director, and a videographer. No matter what avocation he tried, Mud Toe found himself plagued by a persistent sense of spiritual emptiness and an inescapable feeling that human society was fundamentally flawed. He has struggled with substance abuse and self-destructive behavior since he was a teenager.

Four years ago, Mud Toe embarked on a spiritual journey working the Twelve Steps of recovery. Today, he is a PhD student at a well known Major University in the Midwest. He has also accepted a call to become a Healer of Society in the Nemenhah Native American tradition, which he has joined through spiritual adoption. He writes and speaks about his experiences in addiction and recovery, and publishes his words so they might reach those who need them. He maintains a Facebook page of his writings, and now will be sharing his thoughts on a weekly radio program on Withinsights radio called "Mud Toe at Midnight."

Mud Toe is not your average, everyday shaman. For him, it's not all "Love and Light." He is not afraid to access and embrace the darker elements of his experience. His intention is to be fully honest with his readers and his audience. He paints vivid pictures, and they're not always pretty.

Join Mud Toe every Friday at Midnight for a different kind of spiritual program.

  • The NFL, Child Abuse and Adrain Peterson: Double Standards and Disparity

    in Family

Join Attorney Sherri Jefferson as she goes INSIDE THE NFL.  INSIDE THE NFL will be candid discussions about going “Inside the NFL”, and examining race, drugs, domestic violence, child abuse, and player discipline.

NFL, Clubs, and Players Union – Be careful what you ask for?

Is the NFL really serious about violence against women or is their agenda self-serving?  Is the goal of the NFL to maintain endorsements and sponsorship or embrace and develop programs and services that promote self-awareness for abusers and victims of domestic violence? Why has the NFL been vocal about domestic violence and protecting alleged victims who can make decisions for themselves, but silent concerning child abuse, sex trafficking and juvenile prostitution, which plague the League, its clubs and players?

This episode will examine how the NFL has handled the recent allegations of domestic violence and child abuse.  We will discuss whether the role of the NFL and its players union should include disciplinary actions against players for acts committed in their personal lives.  We will also examine whether disciplinary action has been or is fair and impartial and what role does race play, if at all, in addressing off the field acts committed by players.  Finally, this episode will examine whether the NFL has been inclusive or exclusive in handling issues like drugs, domestic violence, and race and off the field acts committed by its players.

Listen live and join Attorney Sherri Jefferson!
