    Indie Books #90 (Artie Cabrera)

    in Books

Tune in and join me as I welcome this week's guest.

Author Artie Cabrera joins me this week to talk about his book: I'm Not Dead: The Journals of Charles Dudley and more. Contains graphic violence and strong language! Please be advised that this is a very dark, post-apocalyptic book and may not be for everyone.

On November 21st, 2014, a deadly storm transforms the landscape of New York City and the lives of its civilians. The island of Manhattan is under martial law. Neighboring boroughs are isolated without power and communication with the outside world.
    There is CHAOS all around.
Charles Dudley, a survivor, writes this intimate and disturbing account about personal demons and deadly encounters with treacherous citizens, predatory humanoids, and extraordinary creatures in this End of Days memoir.

The Knee Jerks: Eno and Big Al - Cabrera injured, Tigers doomed?

    in Sports

Eno and Big Al covewr a very bust week in Detroit sports in the latest episode of The Knee Jerks podcast.

    Topics include:

-Miguel Cabrera is out of 6 weeks with a serious calf injury. Does Cabrera's absence doom the Detroit Tigers' playoff chances?
-Heading into next week's All-Streak break, the Tigers continue to hover around .500, are wracked by injuries and plauged by inconsisency. Should the Tigers kick the can on this season when the trade deadline arrives? Does a rebuild make sense when the division is still within reach and the wild card also in play?
-The Detroit Red Wings make a splash in free agency, signing defenseman Mike Green and center Brad Richards.
-Does Jeff Blashill replacing Mike Babacock as head coach make Detroit a more desirable location to free agents?
-The Wings buy out the last three years of center Stephen Weiss' contract, opening the door for 2014 first round draft pick Dylan Larkin.
-The Detroit Pistons selected Arizona small forward Stanley Johnson with the eighth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, bypassing Duke’s Justise Winslow.
-Unable to entice any of the top free agent small forwards to even consider the Pistons, Stan Van Gundy pulled the trigger on a 3-for-a-draft-pick trade – SF Marcus Morris, SF Danny Granger and swingman Reggie Bullock arrive from Phoenix in exchange for a 2020 second round draft pick.
-As lhas been anticipated since turning down a long-term deal lasr year, power forard/center Greg Monroe bid adieu to Detroit by signing a max deal with Milwaukee.

All that plus the Jerk of the Week!

Long-time Detroit sports bloggers and podcasters, Greg Eno (aka the man who knows a lot of things about a lot of things), and Big Al Beaton are The Knee Jerks! Eno and Big Al's podcast archive can be found the Sports Geeks Radio Network.

Episode 96: So it has come to Everth Cabrera

    in Baseball

In the "The Mets got Rey Ordonez, and it was good" edition, Greg and Jeffrey don't have much to talk about. The Mets non-tendered Eric Young, which was...expected. And Everth Cabrera is freely available, if you are looking for a shortstop that is likely not a huge upgrade of Ruben Tejada. Fortunately you sent us some e-mails on...Gaby Sanchez? I guess it is that part of the offseason, Next week we will at least have some Winter Meetings rumors started by fourteen-year-olds on twitter. And Jeffrey does manage to talk a little *first* division English soccer this week for a nice change of pace.

The Fantasy Six Pack Hour: First Base and Catcher Position Previews

    in Sports

A.J and Joe are back and ready to roll. Today we are excited as we begin our 2016 Fantasy Baseball Position previews.

We start with the catchers. We all know about Buster Posey and even up and comer, Kyle Schwarber. But what can you expect from them and the other guys? When do you draft your catcher? How about single catcher vs. two catcher league? We cover that and more.

Next is the First Base preview. There are some real studs at this position, but this year feels like there is a lot less depth at the position than in recent years. Should you worry about Miguel Cabrera's injury history? Can Votto repeat last season? Is more decline expected for Albert Pujols?

We also give our sleepers and busts at each position as well.

As always call in or tweet us during the show @fantasysixpack (Joe) or @AppleGarthAlgar (A.J.) to give us your opinion or ask a question.
