Mike Norris Former Oakland A's Pitcher Cy Young Winner

    in News

Former Major League Player Michael Kelvin Norris (born March 19, 1955) a right-handed starting pitcher who played with the Oakland Athletics (1975–1983, 1990).Norris is best remembered for his spectacular 1980 season. He went 22-9 with 24 complete games and a 2.53 earned run average, while also earning the Gold Glove Award. However, he was not awarded the American League Cy Young Award; Steve Stone of the Baltimore Orioles, who had a record of 25-7, was given the honor. Norris also placed 15th in the MVP voting. In 1981, Norris posted a modest 12-9 record, again earning the Gold Glove Award and also earning an All-Star berth he was denied in 1980. Norris spun a complete game shutout in the first round of the playoffs against the Kansas City Royals and pitched well in the AL Championship Series against the New York Yankees despite getting hit with a loss there. Many believe[who?] that Billy Martin inflicted a heavy workload on Norris, which threw out his arm. He was never able to return to his former stature, and after the 1983 season, he played for the independent San Jose Bees. He made a brief comeback as a relief pitcher in 1990, posting an ERA of 3.00 in 27 innings. As of 2014, he is the only player to win at least one game with Oakland in three different decades. An addiction to cocaine shortened Norris's playing career. In 1999 he was diagnosed with cervical myelopathy, and he had surgery in January 2000 at the California Pacific Medical Center. After recovering, Norris took up golf as a hobby. In 2007, he appeared with Dave Stewart, Mudcat Grant, and Vida Blue in a regular season game between the Texas Rangers and the Oakland Athletics.Norris was well known for his distinctive green fielding glove.

    @FOSRjams#Ms. Pearl FAC

He’s rarely discussed today, but at one point, Larry Williams seemed poised to become a successor to the hot R&B throne vacated by Little Richard when he gave up rock ‘n’ roll for God, and his songs were covered by a range of better-selling acts that included the Beatles and the He grew up in Oakland, a town then thriving on military-industrial contracts, and fell into music as a teen, eventually starting a band he called the Lemon Drops.

Stones. Unfortunately, he had a love of fast living almost as large as his musical talent — and it finally caught up with him on Jan. 7, 1980, when his body was in New Orleans in 1935, Williams headed west with his family at a young age, spending some time with relatives in Chicago before joining his parents in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1945.

Born 45. He grew up in Oakland, a town then thriving on military-industrial contracts, and fell into music as a teen, eventually starting a band he called the Lemon Drops.  Although the Lemon Drops didn’t last long, Williams had been bitten by the bug, and he decided to pursue a deal with Specialty Records, the New Orleans label where his second cousin, R&B belter Lloyd Price, was already signed.

LYNETTE LOUISE AKA THE BRAIN BROAD WORKS MIRACLES WITH AUTISTIC CHILDREN

    in Culture

ENVISION THIS: Helping children to heal through love, play, neurofeedback, comedy, and music

Lynette Louise is an expert in Autism, and on how to incorporate neurofeedback, combined with play, as the main therapy approach for the autistic child.  She holds two board certifications in Neurofeedback and is working on her PhD in Clinical Psychophysiology. Most notably though, she is a mom extraordinaire! Without question her greatest pride is having raised eight children, (six adopted, five disabled, four on the autism spectrum).  At present, only one of her sons retains his label and remains dependent.

Lynette’s one-woman musical comedy show CRAZY TO SANE teaches with laughter, candor and toe tapping tunes including Unfinished and Brainiac. The show—and the CD-- are a collage of her life as the daughter of abuse, the mother of autism, and a student turned teacher of mental health. With artistic splendor she weaves the lessons of a lifetime, comedy, and brain science into this entertaining and emotional show. Besides healing and performing, she is a public speaker, hosts a radio show, and produces documentaries for the disabled, including Fix it in Five and Living with Lynette.

This extraordinarily multi-talented woman says, “Really, my vision in life was always to save children and to change the world through creative arts because it gets straight to people’s emotions. I never knew I’d be doing documentaries, but I guess I also never knew I’d adopt so many children either.”

My dad is not drafting Adrian Peterson

    in Sports

Mind of Mansion Podcast Episode 140: Matt Kelley @fantasy_mansion explains why Demarco Murray is the best of flawed options at running back in 2015.

Even in his prime, Peterson couldn't soak up enough targets to be considered the top-projected PPR running back.

All stats and ranks should be PPR, but Adrian Peterson stats always manage to be non-PPR.

Norv Turner has not had a running back like Jerick McKinnon since LaDanian Tomlinson.

Fantasy writers fall into correlation traps when recounting a particular offensive coordinator's history of success with a particular position.

There will be enough volume in Philadelphia to support Demarco Murray as a fantasy RB1 and Ryan Mathews as a fantasy RB3.

Le'Veon Bell has both a heighted injury risk and substance abuse risk profile.

Mike Evans' beard is a red flag.

Cooling mister fans at Lucas Oil Stadium must spray holy water.
