I am trying to preserve the largely ignored original analog sound of the old 78 records, plus learn some music history along the way
Herb Caen, San Francisco's foremost newspaper columnist, rumored it. Roger Lapham, San Francisco's "infrequently beloved" businessman mayor, confirmed it. Friedel Klussmann, the President of the San Francisco Federation of the Arts, stopped it.
The issue was a simple one; should San Francisco in 1947 keep the city-owned Powell Street cable cars running? In this environment Glen Hurlburt, a blind pianist, penned his "Cable Car Concerto." A concert orchestra played the "Cable Car Concerto." Hurlburt's "Concerto" cleverly takes us on round trip ride on the Powell-Mason cable from Market Street to the Fisherman's Wharf and back. Enjoy!
A timeless fusion of pop, R&B and rock, Cable Car’s music oozes passion and sex appeal. Defying genre lines and stereotypes, these lads prefer their music to be described as “new vintage” and “tragic sexy” - and rightly so. Most of their music describes the dark side of being in love. The band gracefully delivers a musical jambalaya of all of the most popular sounds of the last couple decades, all while adding a current mainstream twist and their own original style. With voices comparable to warm honey or a perfect morning brew, they continue to capture hearts across the country. The band has been compared to mega music icons such as Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, The Script, and Maroon 5.
After long nights in the studio, Cable Car is anxious and excited to reveal to the world the magic they’ve been recording. Influenced by a lot of the local talent and major artists, the band has been working diligently to promote their new EP Ride, produced by Mike Pappas. Ride is equipped with a diverse subject matter, all inspired by love and relationships.

People who are upset about the government and the systems that control our lives love to convene and complain about it. They even may organize a big rally and make speeches about it. If the cause really becomes popular, they'll get T- shirts, hats, and buttons printed about it. It's great that we know how to whip up sentiments among people and passionately voice our concerns. But these gatherings cost money. Room rental for meetings, sound equipment, chairs. Poster printing, T-shirt, hat and button printing. Bus, van or car rental to drive to the big gathering. Hotel room rental if it's in another city. And of course you have to buy new clothes if it's an out of town conference, you want to look your best. But who's getting paid for all this? People who are already in business, people who own buildings with meeting space, transportation companies, printing factories, hotels, restaurants, clothing stores. Usually the people who are getting paid are not the people protesting the problem. For all the money we spend to gather and talk about the problem, we could be putting together the money to fix the problem. So let's look at the issues we face, the money we spend to complain about it, and the money we could be spending to actually fix the problem.
