Jill loves blending the creativity of video production with the strategic thinking of online video marketing to attract new clients to your business. She saw how her husband had started his own video production company, and thought, “I bet I could do that!”
Cecile Bereal is your host of Serving Up Diversity, a show designed to showcase the value of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and to examine best practices among stellar companies striving for a cohesive and diverse workforce.
Family businesses are the backbone of many world economies. In the US, family businesses employ nearly 63% of the workforce and contribute 57% of GDP. They are also responsible for nearly 78% of new job creation. It is highly likely that many people listening may be part of a family business or will be working for a family enterprise of some description. There are some good reasons why they contribute so much and that creates special conditions, challenges and characteristics which makes mediation very effective in ensuring the ‘specialness’ is not consumed by disputes. In this program, Amanda Bucklow will discuss what that specialness is, how to identify the early warning signs for emerging problems and what you can do about them, wherever you are in the ‘business’.
Amanda Bucklow has been in full-time practice as a commercial mediator since 1995 and has specialised in negotiation and conflict resolution for most of her working life. She has worked in three family businesses including her own. Amanda is also an educator and entrepreneur - those two roles mean that she is constantly pushing the boundaries on how mediators are taught their skills so that they are able to practice in the real world as a ‘safe pair of hands’. Her active practice as a mediator feeds the development of her teaching and vice versa.

Coach-in-training Laura Thompson interviews two veteran coaches, Laurie Lawson and Bernie Siegel, to discover the reason they became coaches and the paths that they took. Plans for the future, obstacles to avoid, and attitude adjustments are all a part of the journey. And of course, there's plenty of "if only we had known..." retrospective wisdom to be shared with coaches starting out.
We all have a story. No one’s story is “better” than the other because our lives… our journeys are all different. What’s clear though, is that every breakthrough to a renewed sense of self, of lives awakening, of careers transformed, of lifestyles forever changed, comes from a decision steeped in a “this isn’t what I signed up for” moment.
In this broadcast, we will discuss the twists and turns of our journeys along with how we each were able to weather the storm. We hope to connect and inspire those who may feel like there’s no way out, that there’s no way someone like me will be able to see my way through.
