Author Robert Lovelle Rooks joins me this week to talk about his book:: The Guidon Bearer: A Basic Training Story
Boot Camp. Otherwise known as Basic Military Training. The rigorous and memorable Rite of Passage every person who ever served in the United States Armed Forces, whether Coast Guard, Navy, Marine Corps, Army or Air Force has been through. If you have ever served or know anyone who has served ask them about Basic Training. They will remember. "The Guidon Bearer" is a semi-fictitious account of one man's journey through Air Force Basic Military Training [Around the year 2000]. Unlike the other four services, anyone who served in the U.S. Air Force has gone through the exact same place: Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX. Here's a story all veterans will relate to, non-service-members will find entertaining and all Air Force veterans past, present and future will give a big thumbs up! Maybe even wonder if they were there when it happened.

His happy family life collapsed when she and her new husband moved to California. Griff wanted his own family. But where does a “player” go to find his ideal mate? Surely not the courthouse!
Having sworn off marriage forever, Lauren Farraday barely kept her life together after her divorce. With her career shaky and depression closing in, the last thing she needed was a courtroom battle with a sexy athlete.
Forced, by a judge, to communicate, the pair came to an uneasy truce. Wary of Griff’s reputation with women, and hiding a secret, Lauren holds on to her heart. Unwilling to risk another tragedy in her life, she keeps him at arm’s length. Can the quarterback handle the truth or will he walk away, like he has in the past?

This week's guest is Fred Weber.
Fred began his professional life on an academic track. With a Ph.D. in philosophy from Northwestern, he joined the faculty of the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Involvement in a public program in the humanities, however, led him to the state-based program of the National Endowment for the Humanities, in Providence, RI. When federal funding for the arts and humanities grew scarce, a newly acquired MBA helped get him back to his native Chicago in a marketing position with Follett Corporation. The fit was excellent, and Fred stayed with Follett for nearly 30 years, retiring 3 years ago as SVP of Wholesale and Distribution Services. But, this year he returned to the college store industry as CEO of the ICBA, a retail cooperative of over 150 institutionally owned college stores.
