Full Moon Names and Their Meanings

    in Spirituality

Full Moon Names and Their Meanings

Full Moon names date back to Native Americans, of what is now the northern and eastern United States. The tribes kept track of the seasons by giving distinctive names to each recurring full Moon. Their names were applied to the entire month in which each occurred. There was some variation in the Moon names, but in general, the same ones were current throughout the Algonquin tribes from New England to Lake Superior. European settlers followed that custom and created some of their own names. Since the lunar month is only 29 days long on the average, the full Moon dates shift from year to year. Here is the Farmers Almanac’s list of the full Moon names

Interop Radio: Making It in Maker Management

    in Technology

IT is big. Really big. So big, in fact, that it encompasses systems from the very, very large to the rather tiny. It's those tiny systems that are the specialty of our guest this week, Tenaya Hurst of Linino.org and Rogue Making.

Note: Technical issues prevented Tenaya from being with us for today's show. Instead, we talked about the results of an Intel study reported in MakeHers Report: Engaging Girls and Women in Technology through Making, Creating, and Inventing. We will work on having Tenaya as a guest on a future episode.

Tenaya is a passionate "maker", creating wearable technology and teaching programming (along with a variety of other skills) to interested groups and individuals across North America.

Join us for a show that will look at what it takes to be a woman "making it" in the maker community, how the special energy of the maker community has had an impact on her management ideas, and why the DIY spirit of "makers" might just be critical for the future success of your IT projects.

Interop 2015 will take place from April 27th through May 1st at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. More information and registration details are available online!

MPP Reveals Legalization Strategies and Small Desert Town Marijuana Challenge

    in News

The Marijuana Policy Project has sponsored more successful medical marijuana and legalization initiatives than any other organization in the U.S.A. In 2016 they will be involved with legalization initiatives in Arizona, California, Maine and Nevada. Our first guest is Morgan Fox, Communications Manager for MPP providing insights into the planning and preparations being made in 2015 to insure the success of these marijuana legalization initiatives. With a successful track record at the ballot box unmatched by any other organization, Mr. Fox will lay out the plans for success and most importantly how you can participate with MPP to make the world safe for marijuana.

20 miles from the sprawling 29 Palms Marine Base and just 15 miles from the renowned Joshua Tree National Park, sits Yucca Valley a small desert town of 20,000. The town had “tolerated” one medical marijuana dispensary for three years but forced it to close in 2014. Our second guest is Jason Elassner who headed the successful campaign to place an initiative before voters allowing dispensaries to open. Having collected enough signatures to require a special election, Jason will divulge the backroom deals and expose the small town intrigues that are changing the political landscape.
