The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT).
Last week we talked about why multi-generational leadership activism is in, and this week we’re going to talk about how to recognize and stop workplace bullying and harassment.
You may have read the Amazon news recently about their toxic workplace culture. While not new news, the unfortunate fact is there are too many other “bullying” and undermining cultures in business today.
Like pollution, workplace bullying and harassment does not usually kill you right away, but an enormous amount of misery is caused — and time wasted — because of unkind words and behavior that cause hurt feelings that take a toll on workplace productivity and relative happiness.
All of us can take leadership roles in helping prevent and stop harmful behavior by example, create clear boundaries about what is and is not acceptable, and a plan for upholding these boundaries.
Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as they talk about how to recognize and stop workplace bullying and harassment with this week’s guest: Irene van der Zande, Executive Director and Founder of Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower International, a global nonprofit leader dedicated to teaching emotional and physical safety skills for people of all ages and abilities.
Thank you to all our TalentCulture sponsors, partners and supporters!
As a parent of two beautiful children, I am dealing with bullying head on because my 9 year old is being tormented. Bullying is taught. Children learn it from parents, siblings, and other influential people in their lives. Parents we must stand up together and teach our children how bullying can change a childs life.
Have you ever been called a "slut"? If so, how did you feel? Whether you are sexually active or not the term can be hurtful and embarrassing. If you’re a parent of a teen, have you heard about "slut" shaming and the dire effects it can have on your impressionable teenager?
"Slut" shaming and sexual bullying is occurring every day in America. Many teens are experiencing these issues and feel uncomfortable reporting it to their parents or other adults. Emily Lindin, who founded of The UnSlut Project in April 2013, found herself in this exact situation when she was eleven. She began journaling about these incidents of "slut" shaming and sexual bullying she faced in school.
As Emily published her journal entries, she hoped that her words would reach teens experiencing the same thing bringing awareness about this prevalent issue. The UnSlut Project started as a small online personal submission and has now grown to incorporate the stories of girls, women, and men of many ages, backgrounds, and nationalities. Emily will be discussing the UnSlut Project and her upcoming video project “Slut: A Documentary Film” and her soon to be released book, “UnSlut: A Diary and A Memoir”.
Emily Lindin is the founder of The UnSlut Project, ? an online community where survivors of sexual bullying and "slut" shaming can share their stories, and where girls who are currently suffering can find support and solidarity.
?The UnSlut Project's crowd-funded film, "Slut: A Documentary Film," is in post-production and Emily's book, "UnSlut: A Diary and A Memoir," will be published in Dec., 2015.
Citizen Voice Project welcomes, Lowell Levine, founder of Stop Bullying Now Foundation, Inc.
The primary mission of Stop Bullying Now Foundation, Inc. is to raise money for school districts around the country to address and eliminate the ongoing dangerous student bullying problem which is causing death, much mental and physical harm as well as forcing students to drop out of school. These school districts do not have the funds to address this important problem because of budget cuts due to deficits. Stop Bullying Now Foundation, Inc. will aggressively address the bullying problem and the high dropout rate among students. The dropout rate is causing an increase in local crime at a large expense to the taxpayers. The bullying problem is causing hardship to other students and their families.

From top Corporate business woman, to internationally acclaimed author, Anita Telle talks to us about how her child being bullied, changed her and her son’s life as well as the lives of many people from around the world. She has a mission: To teach acceptance and love to children ages 4 – 9 so they will grow up to be amazing, supportive and loving teenagers, immune to peer pressure and bullying. She also has a story to tell. And it’s an important story; one that touches everyone, everywhere, from every culture. But it is especially important for children: Being different IS normal. We are all different, in different ways.
As a very involved mom, Anita realized just how much she loves children and created the first ever “feel good” Gnomy’s Boo-Boo Bears for children with a unique story for each Boo-Boo-Bear. Anita is furthering her love for children and is now focusing on anti-bullying because her son Branden was born with a cleft pallet/lip and was bullied for being different. As a mom, she asked herself what she could do to make a change in her son’s life. Anita decided to start writing children’s books with a “message of acceptance”.

We have all seen or heard about it more than once or twice on the news, but workplace violence and bullying is a issue that's all too real but no one really wants to discuss it until something happens. Please join us this Wednesday we try to gain some type of clarity in terms of the causes, effects, and consequences of workplace violence . Silence with situations like this should never be acceptable.
Every day, thousands of children, teens, and young adults around the country are bullied. Estimates are that nearly one-third of all school-aged children are bullied each year – upwards of 13 million students. With the popularity of the internet and social media, bullying has taken on new meaning. Students involved in bullying are more likely to have challenges in school, to abuse drugs and alcohol, and to have health and mental health issues.
Bullying can have destructive consequences for our young people. And it’s not something we have to accept. As parents and students; teachers and communities, we can take steps that will help prevent bullying and create a climate in our schools in which all of our children can feel safe. As kids prepare to go back to school this episode will explore how teachers, parents, and other adults can recognize the signs of bullying and what they can do to help prevent bullying against the children in their lives.
