Indie Playground TOD: Indie Gras 2016
Vixen from Indie Playground Radio is going to Mardi Gras 2016 in New Orleans and she wants you to share the fun with her. She'll be broadcasting live from Bourbon Street in the French Quarter. She is calling this special event Indie Gras 2016.
Vixen will be talking with interesting people, discussing the latest current events and play the music from the best indie artists from around the world.
In Episode 168 of Amazin' Avenue Audio, Jeffrey, Kate, Chris, Kate Morrison of Baseball Prospectus and the mysterious prospect hate man (he lost a bet) knock back a few and discuss the Mets re-signing Yoenis Cespedes. We prefer that they would have leaked this out two drinks ago, but we can't complain too vehemently because the Mets look like a legitimate mid-market team and have had a pretty good offseason? We are confused as the rest of you.

Dr. Ansel Augustine is the Director of the Office of Black Catholic Ministries for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Previously he served as the Associate Director/Coordinator of Black Youth & Young Adult Ministry for the CYO Youth & Young Adult Ministry Office. He is also on the Faculty of the Institute for Black Catholic Studies at Xavier University of Louisiana. Ansel has served on the board of directors for the National Catholic Young Adult Ministry Association (NCYAMA) and the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM). He began his career in ministry over 16 years ago when he became the youth minister at his home parish of St. Peter Claver in the Treme area of New Orleans, which he helped to rebuild following hurricane Katrina. He has presented workshops and keynotes around the country and has written various pieces related to ministry. Ansel presently serves on the board for the New Orleans Black Indian Alliance (NOBIA) and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the Wild Tchoupitoulas (Black Masking) Mardi Gras Indians.
Burnell Cotlon is a veteran and a lifetime resident of the Lower 9th Ward in New Orleans, just an average guy with above average dreams who want for his neighborhood, the Lower 9th Ward, to catch up with the rest of New Orleans. Everyone sees Bourbon St and the Super Dome and think that New Orleans has totally recovered but it has not because the Lower 9th ward is a part of New Orleans. I have successfully open up the FIRST and only Barber Beauty as well as the first grocery store. Presently I am now working on opening up the first laundromat. If I have to rebuild my community one business at a time I will.

Happy 2016! I am doing my year in review for 2015! 2015 was definately a year that I was ready to see go. Heartache was a factor along with some other not so good news were the low points but there were hightlights and that it will be my focus on today. January is my birthday month so I celebrated. I attended the Mardi Gras parade at Pier Park mainly to see Jinks Marching Band. I attended two family graduations one was an eigth grade and the other a high graduation from Bay High which is my alma mater. During the summer I joined Periscope and began my Steffie Scopes. I try to keep my school informative and inspirational. But here lately the trolls have gotten on my nerves so I don't scope nearly as much but I have solved the problem so you will see more content in 2016. I began posting much more on my Youtube channel. You can catch some amazing footage of local bands. I saw some good musical talent such as Sir Charles, Tucka, and the imcomperable Lenny Williams who showed what it meant to be a true performer. This was time for me to get back out there because I had stopped going out. I have checked out True Soul at the Bucanner, Friday Fest, and the UnWinD event. True Soul won Best in Bay 2 years in a row. During this weekend the heartbreak happened and don't know how I made it out of this house but I did it to support my guys. I also made new musical friends with the Okaloosa Sound who I caught at Lowe's House of Bourbon. They came back for 2 nights and I supported them. That weekend I was dealing with alot but once again live music helped me cope. I had a blast at Oktoberfest and I judged the wet T-shirt for dogs. This year was a year of loss, amends, and gains. 2016 will be a year of triumph, and execution! If it is to be then it's up to me in 2016
