WENDY DAVIS IS RUNNING FOR TEXAS GOVERNOR: Wendy Russell Davis is an American lawyer and Democratic politician from Fort Worth, Texas. Davis represents District 10 in the Texas Senate. She previously served on the Fort Worth city council.
Today Wendy Davis’ race for Governor in Texas is one of the most exciting campaigns in the country. Her opponent, Greg Abbott, is truly Rick Perry 2.0. He’s got tens of millions of dollars in his war chest. And since Texas has no campaign finance limits, the special interests are pouring money into nasty, disgusting attacks against her.
On Nov. 4, Texans will elect a new governor for the first time in 14 years. We think that new governor should be Democrat Wendy Davis. Davis and her Republican opponent, long-serving Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, offer voters sharp, competing visions for the state’s future. Davis’ positions on education, health care and economic fairness make her the best candidate to meet the looming challenges unparalleled growth has brought the state.
On tonight's show we talk to Chris Brady, Deputy Field Organizer at Battleground Texas, and tonight he gives us his views on why his candidate Wendy Davis is running for Texas Governor and why she is better choice for Texas.
Until Ferguson, every act of apparent racially motivated violence in the news sparked the same pointless debate about the role of race in the incident. Despite an obvious pattern of police violence against people of color, many Americans continue to insist that we live in a post-racial society. Often, they point to the election of President Obama as proof. When it is pointed out that many of the attacks on Obama are overtly racist, it provokes angry denial among the Tea Party types. The problem is that just as most Tea Party supporters do not acknowledge their unconscious racist biases, their accusers fail to take into account the fact that holding such unrecognized beliefs is not the same thing as consciously choosing to believe in the superiority of one race over another.
Walter Davis is a retired military veteran, a survivor of the infamous 16th Street Church bombing in Birminghamd that killed several Black children and an expert at facilitating discussions about race. In this show, we talk about what it will take to have an honest discussion about racism in America and how we can work together to unite people of different races, polititical philosophies and socioeconomic circumstances to work together to establish liberty and justice for all.
This show will be rebroadcast on November 1 at 1 AM PST/ 12 PM EST on the Star Com Radio network.

The San Francisco Giants win Game 7 of the World Series, carried by World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner, who pitched a masterful five innings of relief and completed the single greatest pitching performance in a World Series. We'll cover the Giants' incredible run to a World Series, an unlikely run coming in as a Wild Card team that started thier postseason on the Road at Pittsburgh, and finished it with a high popup to the red-hot hitting Pablo Sandoval at 3rd Base. The Royals' run to the World Series was also a great story, with standout relievers Herrera, Davis, and Holland, plus their exciting outfield of Aoki, Cain, and Gordon, along with their stars Butler, Hosmer, and Moustakas. Ned Yost got the team a long way, but we'll cover where things may have erred for Kansas City. PLUS The Kids Club returns for podcast football picks, and we'll cover the College Football Playoff Committee's top four selections plus the picks from the NCAA and NFL.

Oh my....how can this episode of "Hybrid Jazz From Trish Hennessey" be described? Let's try :) First, the FUN planned for you is too amazing for words. Carefully chosen songs for the season of Halloween - some funky, some scary - others sensual to create the mood. No tricks - only TREATS!
With that in mind, we give you the intense artistry of handsome and brilliant Juanito Pascual! Completely magnetic, this Minneapolis raised acoustic guitar master will sweep you into the embrace of his gift. National Public Radio has called him, "One of the hottest flamenco guitarists in recent years." For yours truly, this quote doesn't quite tell the story. Because, you see, Juanito is a flamenco HYBRID - cultivating the respect for a style that he clearly owns when he plays - but also paying homage to the heroes that he heard as learned to play - at age 11. Jimi Hendrix, Johann Sebastian Bach, Miles Davis and The Grateful Dead. His music is firmly rooted in traditions but he is not to be boxed. That passion spills over with Classical and Jazz and is influenced profoundly by Beatles and the beauty that he encounters in his many journeys - well before his 2003 debut solo, "Cosas en Comun."
From his stay in Spain where he learned to survive on the streets - to his return to the States to study at the New England Conservatory (graduating with honors!) - to the formation of the New Flamenco Trio in 2012 - Juanito Pascual is recognized as a formidable talent in both America and in Spain. Where major artists revere him as an equal.
There is so much to his story! And we'll get to all of it - but the main reason for Juanito's visit is to tell you of his tour in support of his new CD. We'll hear most amazing tracks...and The Chat Room will be well-stocked with virtual Halloween candy. And MAGIC (shhhhh!)
