The sports world is shaken by the protest that has gone on the last couple of days, but no pro black athlete has protested. Who will "shut it down" not only for Mike Brown but for the cause. NFL is winding down and some teams are on the verge of getting in the dance and some will be cry baby ganstas if they dont get it together soon.
The shooting deaths of Michael Brown and other unarmed Black teenagers, men and women have a profound psychological impact on the Black community. Complex trauma is described by psychologist and trauma expert Dr. Christine Courtois, as “a type of trauma that occurs repeatedly and cumulatively, usually over a period of time and within specific relationships and contexts.” Does the killing of Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin and Akai Gurley and others meet this criteria? Join us for a discussion on Complex Trauma and responding to these tragedies using the lens of trauma. How do we effectively help our children and our community deal with these situation?
