Noel Gourdin - R&B 2:15pm
Soul and R&B singer Noel Gourdin (Gor-Deen) emerged on the music scene with his number one hit song “The River” which stayed on the Urban AC charts at number one for 15 weeks! Noel’s childhood was not a traditional one; he was born in Brockton, MA but spent his summers with family Pachuta, Mississippi. The result is a man who is city to the heart but southern to the soul! Noel scored a deal with Sony Music at age 24, his first exposure to the vocal arts came in church and he was introduced to the larger audience of soul music by his father (who introduced him to the classics, such as Otis Redding) and his brother (who turned him on to the sounds of new jack swing). Noel is influenced by classic soul as well as the contemporary sounds of R&B and hip-hop. Making his music is a seamless blend of each genre.

Hosted by criminal defense lawyer Elizabeth Kelley, AuthorChats features in-depth interviews with writers about their recent works. In this episode, she talks with Brockton D. Hunter, Minneapolis-based criminal defense lawyer about the book his co-authored with Ryan C. Else titled "The Attorney's Guide to Defending Veterans in Criminal Court." As former United States Senator Max Cleland writes in the Forword to the book:
"When you put PTSD, TBI, and substance abuse together, it isn't difficult to imagine the potential for behavioral issues that could place the veteran in the hands of the legal system. When that happens, the crisis of criminal involvement must be used as an opportunity to ensure that the veteran receives the treatment and support that he or she needs. If we fail to do this with this generation of combat veterans, we are doomed to repeat the mistakes and their tragic consequences that my generation of Vietnam veterans is still dealing with to this day....
I salute all the contributors to this important book. This guide is the finest effort I have seen in getting appropriate legal services for those who have defended this nation with honor and courage."

My first book is called The Road Runner / An American Odyssey and is a modern retelling of Homer’s Odyssey. It is a memoir of my life up until 1998 when my father died. My father owned a downtown, Skid Row hotel in Brockton, Mass. I found half dozen dead bodies as a kid, usually drug and alcohol .In 1989, I got sober for the first time. My daughter was born a year later, and I opened my first clothing company, City Garment Finishers. It was time of great personal and financial success. In 1992, I got divorced and went to work doing a line of clothing for Playboy. I was at the Playboy Mansion for the Millennium New Years Eve party. (Pictures of all this are on my web site.) I was sober during this time. This is when I took a serious interest in helping the homeless.
The new books reflect those experiences. I am fine now, drug and pain free and promoting the new books for The Love Rescue Me Trilogy. The title was taken from a U2 song, Love Rescue Me. I have written nine books to date, six are currently available in print. The most interesting thing about the new books is….
Needing a break from living in such close quarters with two hundred other men, I would spend two hours every day on the Public Library’s compute John’s other books, press and reviews can be seen at…
