Brighton Beach Avenue, the main street of community of Brighton Beach was a sea of people, young and old, weaving in and out of the hundreds of stories featuring various Jewish and Russian delicacies. A medley of Russian and Jewish music filtered out of the Russian coffeehouses that lined the streets which nurtured the aroma of hot bagels and knishes. It was 1933. The depression years were waning and the war was yet to come.
Sara Koza was an attractive 18-year-old with compelling deep brown eyes. Born of Russian immigrants in Harlem, her mother had died when she was 8-year-old of TB. Her father, Jack was forced to put her and her brother who was two years younger into an orphanage until he could establish a home for them. Jack met Frieda, a young nurse from Russia and they were married. Sara's father was a gifted musician and joined the Goldman band as the lead trumpeter. Sara and her brother, Sam, were taken out of the orphanage and reunited with their father and new stepmother. The Koza's, due to the father's talent flourished during the depression years and Sara had a new sister and brother to concern herself with as the oldest child. As she walked the streets of Brighton to the subway in 1933 she felt a sense of excitement which reflected in the blush that crossed her cheek and her buoyant stride. Children of God - we have been through much and we need to continue to make ourselves ready to be the spotless bride of Christ. Today, I am declaring that 2015 is the year of Jubilee - I am not a prophet but I believe in the power of faith so this is something I declare by faith that people will have there posesssions returned in 2015 in Jesus name. He is the only one who can meet our needs and bring us joy and can always do more than we ask or expect. Oh heavenly father, may your name be praised by your people today. This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Welcome to another episode of #ASTRadio, where the biggest topics in sports will be discussed by your's truly. With Christmas coming on Thursday, I have a lot on my mind as the holiday spirit kicks in. Is Tony Romo the MVP? Should I be concerned that Johnny Manziel hasn't "got it yet"? Or what about in the NBA: Should Miami Heat fans cheer on LeBron in his first game back in South Beach? Are the Atlanta Hawks, new contenders in the East? I'm discussing all of that and more the day before Christmas on #ASTRadio!

I have a dream...Celebrating Our 50 Years of Jubilee!
Our forefathers and mothers planted trees from which we gather fruit, and dug wells from which we quench our thirst. Civil Rights Activist marched for us, died for us and pleaded for our equality.
So what are we leaving behind for our communities today? What are we fostering in the minds of our Black children? How will we strengthen our famillies and our communities?
Fifty years ago, Dr. King's "I Have a Dream..." Speech debuted in Detroit and transformed a nation. Today, we Celebrate our 50th Year of Jubilee and join in that movement of teaching us all to evolve in our beliefs, values and purpose for elevation of our consciousness into the greatness that lies in the Human Spirit.
Our ancesters from Africa knew the power of connection to the Divine, while honoring the human-ness in each other. I invite you to remember the greatness of our people, and let's have conversations that inspires us all to take action to "Heal what's hurting our Hearts and our Black Community."
Join me today as we talk with our featured guest, Andrea Lipscomb, who refused to allow her painful life experiences of domestic violence to hold her back, but moved forward to become an educater, novelist, journalist and actress, traveling and acting on stages around the world!!
