Racism is real. We can look the other way. We can pray for change. We can try not to talk it up too much. That's how we can all get by. But what if we want to do a little more in our lifetime? What if we want to leave a slightly better world for our children? What if we just want to live in a better world for ourselves and our own quality of life? What if we just want to LIVE?
We're going to address this topic from a historical point of view, a present day point of view and lastly - a future point of view. I promise you it's going to be a really good show.
Make sure you show up and the chat room is going to be HOT!
In many cases, it seems that the problems in the schools are related to an inability to make important decisions about the future of education in America. Instead of focusing on the areas of true and immediate significant importance and value, time is being wasted by infighting and indecision. Instead of wasting time of these debates, the larger issues that have an effect on the system as a whole and outcome of educated young people should be addressed and these other side arguments should be saved until a time comes that education in America is improved.
Talk of the Town is the flagship show of Raising The Roof Media with Brent Nation bringing Patersonians the insight on everything going on in the city...
Bob Coleman has served as pastor in a variety of settings since 1984. He has been a circuit pastor to three churches, preaching at all three every Sunday morning. He has also been a campus minister at Austin Peay State University. He has experienced the nuances of both rural and urban ministries for the past thirty years. In 1991, Bob came to Nashville’s West End United Methodist Church as Minister of Social Justice. Five years later he was the new pastor at Edgehill United Methodist Church, a small but thriving progressive church that served the community and world with bold faith. While there, Bob taught as an adjunct professor at Vanderbilt Divinity School, where he had received his M.Div. in 1986. He taught two courses repeatedly over the next several years, The Church and the Poor, and The Church in the City. Bob helped to start the Interfaith Dental Clinic in Nashville which serves thousands of locals who have income but no dental insurance. He also helped to formally incorporate Luke 14:12, a ministry to share banquet meals with homeless and hungry brothers and sisters in Nashville. In 2007, Bob was offered and accepted the position of Minister of Social Justice at The Riverside Church in New York City. He served that role and then added the role of Chief Program Minister in 2009. New York brought growth opportunities for Bob to engage in justice ministries. He returned to Nashville in 2013 to be closer to family and friends and serves at Glendale UM Church. Bob and Tami were married in 1979 and they have two sons, Brent Coleman in Nashville, and Jacob Coleman in Oklahoma City, and one daughter, Allison Ergle in Gilbert, South Carolina. They have three grandchildren, Nash, Eli, and Sophie. Bob and Tami love to read to each other, hike the mountains of West Virginia and Tennessee, listen to good music, and commune with friends, both new and old around their table.
Embattled wide receiver DeSean Jackson makes his return to Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon when the Eagles host the Washington Redskins. Jackson, who suffered Grade 1 sprain of the AC joint in his left shoulder in Sunday's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, said he expects to play. Jackson was cut by the Eagles in late march and signed with the Redskins days later.
The Eagles (2-0), meanwhile, will attempt to start 3-0 for the first time since 2004, posting victories in their first two games despite trailing by at least 14 points in the second half of each.
Washington will turn to Kirk Cousins at quarterback after Robert Griffin III exited Sunday's contest with a dislocated ankle.

Tonight the women of Paterson share their view on the Black Condition.. U-Nam returns with a brand new project, C'est Le Funk. Brent Black from criticaljazz.com said about C'est Le Funk, "For the artists that walk the smoother side of the improvisational street, the groove has remained stagnant for over a decade. The differences between most artists can be measured with a sheet of paper. U/Nam's C'est Le Funk pushes the music forward and drops a groove bomb of flavor and lyrical flow that most artists are still struggling to find. These are old school vibes dusted off with a new cool funk full of attitude and a technical proficiency to match. While there is an obvious George Benson like influence, U/Nam channels this pioneering sound into his own unique presentation. Simply put, no other contemporary artist sounds like U/Nam!"
