    Lucifer 1x01 - Pilot Review

    in Film

WARNING: SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #095 - Lucifer 1x01 - Pilot Review | Let's dive into the latest police procedural by FOX, a strangely watered-down adaptation of a Vertigo title by Neil Gaiman!  More important that the controversy of making the Morningstar into a sympathic do-gooder is the, ahem, burning question: Is the show any good?  Well, that's just what Dave and Jason get into in this episode!  Did FOX really make Lucifer into a good guy, or is he simply acting out of his own selfish desires?  Could there be a connection to Constantine? And what of Amenadiel and the on-coming war that will happen if Lucifer does not return to his post in Hell?

WIIM Radio: Pre All-Star Break Edition

    in Hockey

Welcome to our latest edition of WIIM Radio. This week we had me, Graham, Jeff and Kyle on to talk about the Red Wings and all things NHL for you. Here's a rundown of what we got into.

The week that was, including the PRO-cess of the Wings - Detroit won two and lost two since we last talked. Surprisingly, the two wins were the games we deemed "good" while the losses were "bad." I promise we say smarter stuff than that in the episode though.
The defense - How bad is Jonathan Ericsson? How good is Brendan Smith? What's going on with the pairings? There's always a lot to talk about when it comes to Detroit's blue line.
Petr Mrazek and the end of the tandem - Has Mrazek's relative lack of games compared to other starters hurt is Vezina chances? How badly? We look ahead and try to guess at how many more games Howard will get.
Dylan Larkin and the All-Star game - With our lone representative being an excitable 19-year old, are we more excited about this ASG than we have been in years past? The answer is of course we are!
Reader Questions - You guys made a mess of the mailbag and we cleaned up after you. You're welcome. Also Nick asked the worst question ever and we answered it so hard that it just kind of made everybody mad. Good job there.
Final thoughts - Why start thinking at the end? We were on a roll.

    - - -

For the prospects report, we kind of missed the cut for the episode, but don't worry, we're going to be releasing that soon for your listening pleasure!

As always, WIIM Radio is rated R for saucy puppetry and mild fucking language.

God was created out of colonial imperial evil greed of Italian and European

    in Religion

There was the anthropic human world before the Roman Empire. So who created the Christian God that was never heard of.  Christianity's climb to dominance was sparked by a single event - the conversion of Roman Emperor Constantine I. Constantine was embattled in a bitter civil war to retain the emperor’s throne. Before the decisive battle against his brother-in-law and chief rival in 312, he was said to have claimed to experience a vision where Christ appeared unto him, instructing him to place the sign of Christ on the banners carried by his troops. He did so, and his army proceeded to demolish that of his rival, securing his position as emperor. He credited the Christian God for the victory, and proceeded to give favor to Christianity over all other religions in the massive Empire.

Almost overnight, Christianity was propelled to the status of global, theological powerhouse. Roman citizens and subjects converted in droves, as Christians were afforded special tax breaks and other amenities not available to any other religious affiliations. Despite its favored status, other religions were now outlawed by Constantine. It would not be until later in the 4th century (380), when Christianity would be named the official state religion of Rome, illegalizing all other models of worship. This would ensure the conversion of nearly everyone under Roman control, covering much of Europe, West Asia and North Africa. Failing to convert typically elicited deportation or execution.
