Janie Reznor Interviews Stacy Malznik of Friends of the Earth:
From Janie's summary: "I'm talking with Stacy Malkan of Friends of the Earth talking about the bees and their alarming die-off. Bees and other pollinators, essential for two-thirds of the food crops humans eat everyday, are in great peril, and populations are dwindling worldwide. A growing body of science has implicated the world's most widely-used pesticides, neonicotinoids (neonics) made by giant chemical companies . .the usual culprits, Bayer and Syngenta and Monstanto, as a key factor in recent global bee-offs . . .(along with breast cancers and other kinds of cancers, I add. It is astounding what deadly products these companies have spread throughout our precious environment. Stacy Malkan has led campaigns to move the market to safer products. and author of "Not Just a Pretty Face: The Ugly Side of the Beauty Industry" Stacy has appeared on Democracy Now, writes for the Huffington Post. Mission: To bring awareness to our nation's households and communities concerning sexual abuse against children. To open up the ears of adults that they may hear the cry of our children.
We are dedicated to the education, prevention and support of children and their families who have been victimized by sexual assault against a child. Sexual assault against children is not a new discovery in our society. The ealiest reported case dates back to 1642 in Massachusetts. It is a subject that has been hidden behind the closed doors of our homes, churches, schools, etc. In this 21st century one would think that this topic would get at least as much exposure as Gay Rights, Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence, yet there is little said about the abuse against our nation's children. they have to say and pay attention to the signs that things may be occuring right under their nose. It is our responsibility to protect our children. We can educate our children on how to protect themselves against strangers, but how do we educate them against people they trust, especially those who claim to love them?
Fact:1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused by their eighteenth birthday. Only 1 in 10 will tell. A recent study of 116 confirmed cases of abuse where a child disclosed, showed that 74% of the time it was an accidental disclosure. This means that the abuse was discovered not by the child coming forth with the information, but by third parties observing unusual behaviors or symptoms. This information is based on reported cases. The number of unreported cases is unknown. (Dallas Children's Advocacy Center)
Let's join forces and help prevent these assaults against our children. Let us embrass those children and adults that are healing from the abuse that they have already encountered.
Staff Sergeant M. David Davis, USA (ret.), is a decorated combat veteran, military advisor & nuclear weapons specialist. He is also a soldier dying within months. Not in the line of duty, but death due to negligence. His death will be as a result of the Veterans Administration doctors who misdiagnosed his illness.
According to SSG Davis, during “the last 10 years, I have been seen by the VA for sores which they gave me antibiotic creams & antibiotics by mouth with never having a biopsy. Last fall, I complained again to the VA & I was told, "Maybe warts or have I ever had HIV." In February, I complained to the VA again and told my VA doctor who refused the records and the civilian doctor’s card to call. The VA doctor said, “I do not want an outside opinion and would not call.” After much complaining about a cyst on the right side of my face the doctor planned to have it taken out.
Two days later I was diagnosed with metastases malignant melanoma, stage 4. Further tests revealed, 6 tumors in left lung, 2 tumors in right lung, tumors in breast, neck and other areas. During my last meeting with the VA Oncologist, he would not offer me chemo or radiation because it would do no good. I asked for referrals to civilian organizations and or experimental treatment. My answer was. “The VA does not do referrals or will help me get into any research at civilian or pay any expenses”
The final result is I am looking for my own burial sites. I was not referred to social services at the VA to help me. So what is the outcome? I fought for my country and my country brings me home to die in its own government sponsored hospitals. If I had been properly diagnosed, referred, and or a simple biopsy performed ten years ago I would not be dying and I would be able to watch my children marry and grandchildren grow.”
