Learning to Reach out for Help with Breast Friends

    in Health

As an entrepreneur, what do we do when a crisis comes?  When we have issues that come up in our lives the most common thing we want to do is to avoid it.  We hope that maybe if we don’t deal with it then it will go away.   The more empowering AND TERRIFYING  approach is to take an issue that comes up in our life and face it.  And then there is our willingness to accept help from others, even the people who love us.  We don’t want to be a burden, we are afraid that if we ask for help.  The truth is that our true empowerment comes when we bring all of us to everything we do.  This is the most true when we learn to ask for help when we need it. There are people who want to help!

Steve Kidd is joined by two amazing ladies who help women during perhaps one of the most difficult and frightening things that can happen in life – being diagnosed with breast cancer.  Their organization gives help and support not only to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer but also to their families and support system.

Meet Sharon Henefin and Becky Olsen from Breast Friends.  Sharon and Becky are going to share with us today some ways to learn to ask for the help and not go it alone in our times of crisis.  We will learn how even in the worst of situations there is a way we can THRIVE.

    in Education

Whats good fam and definitly THE ELECT? Ran out of time last night and didn't get a chance to play my last clip on how having sex with NEANDERTHAL leper cave dogs, give we melanin rich aka BLK folks CANCER. Evidence shows that prior to cleverly crafted integration and leper caucasoid planned and orchestrated racial amalgamtion. Negro Black Americans (never) suffered from diseases like Breast Cancer or Prostrate Cancer. So if we are suffering from a high rate of these disease NOW and more, it simply stands to reason that it is the LEPER Cauacasoid Tribes their (half cast) progeny and there never ending JEALOUSY of we who are giving these disease to us and aslo creating them for us. Sorry if these FACTS hurt some of you out there who feel swirling with the NEANDERTHAL is the best thing next to ice cream. But the high mortality rate at which we are dying when we where living to over 100 yrs not to long ago should want you/we to consider the PRICE we are willing to pay for being in love with and cohabitating with the leper neanderthal races.

Dawn understands adversity. She was born with a rare tumor, the removal of which left her face half paralyzed, so she grew up looking "different." After years of struggle, she finally came to understand that the secret to beauty is happiness. The happier you are and the more confident you feel, the easier it is to accept, appreciate and embrace the image staring back to you from the mirror, and the more you will project that beauty to others around you.Call in at (949) 203-4763 or chat in at 9pm EST/ 8pm CST on 4/9 and join the conversation. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/changingmindsonline/2015/04/10/empowering-women-series-friending-the-mirror-making-peace-with-your-reflection

    Ellen Matloff and MyGeneCounsel

    in Health

Joyce speaks with Ellen Matloff, geneticist, about her newest venture, MyGeneCounsel.

Ellen Matloff, MS, CGC is the President and CEO of My Gene Counsel. Ellen is the founder and former director of the Cancer Genetic Counseling Program at Yale School of Medicine and a lead plaintiff in the 2013 United States Supreme Court gene patent case. Ellen has authored more than 50 scientific publications in the field, is an established educator, lecturer and media spokesperson and has received national awards for her ongoing patient advocacy efforts.

She was the 2013 honoree of ArtBra New Haven for her work with hereditary breast cancer, and particularly for helping to challenge the validity of patenting the genes for breast cancer.

Ellen’s area of special interest is BRCA I and BRCA II mutations, which vastly increase the probability of a carrier developing breast and/or ovarian cancer. For the past 18 years, she has been dedicated to patient and provider issues in cancer genetic counseling, and the impact of genetic patents on patients and clinical practice.

Ellen was one of the lead plaintiffs in Association of Molecular Pathology v. Myriad Genetics, the landmark case before the U.S. Supreme Court, which challenged the validity of patenting naturally-occurring substances from the human body. Myriad Genetics had patented the BRCA I and II genes, and held the monopoly on testing. This effectively froze research, and made necessary testing unaffordable for many patients, leaving them to make huge decisions about their treatment without vital information. Ellen worked tirelessly for the interests of breast cancer patients and their families.
