Dr. Nicola Bird is a new generation psychotherapist who successfully pioneered Self-Imaging Therapy™ (SIT), her ground-breaking approach to personal transformation and brain retraining. During her twenty years of practice, Nicola has introduced innovative techniques to help people change and empower their lives. Her one-of-a-kind method gives people the tools to free themselves from negative tapes, limitations, and fears.
Self-Imaging Therapy™ (SIT) is a fresh and exciting new approach to psychotherapy that Nicola pioneered to help people overcome whatever they're struggling with: anxiety, fear, trauma, depression, emotional eating, etc. SIT is a transformative inner process—very much like an active, therapeutic meditation. It achieves maximum results quickly and deeply, because it changes people from the inside out and gives them the tools to heal. It goes deep to the root of the problem and people experience fast and long lasting change in every session.
SIT works because self-images are a powerful tool for creating self-awareness, healing, and change. The mind doesn't know the difference between a real experience and an imagined one. If you vividly imagine yourself eating a juicy fruit (e.g. mango or peach), you will salivate in the same way as you would if you were actually eating it. In the same way, the mind will register and encode the transformations that they experience through the SIT process as "real". People heal and gain strength, confidence, calm, and personal power.

The Brain Fog Solution course:
One of the most difficult aftereffects of brain injury is losing oneself. Depending on the injury and which part of the brain is impacted determines the type of emotional and behavioral change in one’s personality. A person who was agreeable, complacent, reasonable, and calm before the injury may change drastically to one who is violent, depressive, or struggles with anger management. These effects are not easy for others to understand – BUT, have you thought how difficult it must be for the survivor? My panel, M. S. survivor, Lisa Dryer and Brain Injury survivor, GeorgeAnna Bell will join me to discuss this sensitive topic.
Every TBI survivor and caregiver has encountered a fork in the road that has diverted his or her life-plan. A car accident, a fall from the roof, doing one more chin-up, or a door literally slamming one in the face are just some causes of traumatic brain injury. College plans, walking down the aisle in the perfect dress, or the coveted job quickly slip from reality as dreams turn to struggle. These unexpected life-happenings that divert one from his or her chosen path in life can be devastating. But as Yogi Berra once said, "If you come to a fork in the road, take it." Life is all about choices!

Disability can be tough but so what! I want to see us the survivors of disabilities living the Bold new life in spite of having a disability or not! Wouldn’t it be cool if we could lay our title down at the door and just be cool no matter how badly disability has affected us?
Well I will say a bit of kindness and a whole lot of care about what we can do to help others and ourselves along the way can be a big part of the cure to that!
In my own opinion I have discovered through peer support and advocacy and love for people going through hard times I have grown into a better more understanding person who is in search each for much of the same things everybody else wants such as; a happy life, a good relationship, with Friends, Family, a great job or carrier, and to live the American Dream to name just a few!
Can I say seeming many people with disabilities? Well yes like grabbing a Bull by the horns and saying no more fear I am who I am and I am happy to be me!!! Tats what I mean.

Healing Through Creativity
Hosted by Cheryl Green and Craig Sicilia
Creativity and time can heal all things. Even though it’s been almost 10 years, the first 3 or 4 being the darkest of all. Creativity kept me alive, kept me from letting the darkness of loss because of my disability after sustaining a brain injury. It gave me purpose, strength and carried me through many days and months and years.
There are many forms of creativity, and hope to have many share their arts, but some that I have worked with and all were an amazing benefit, but I had to explore many different types. And some of them worked at different times in my journey to today. Some of the ones I have used, have been, writing in the beginning I have written thousands of pages of material, and hope to come out with a book one day, I have 2 ready to go. But the books will change my life and how people think of me. Writing them not only helped me deal with the darkness I was going through but also the extreme darkness before my injury. Then it was on to writing music, forming a band, and then performing. And as suddenly as the music came several years later it left just as quickly. Then banner design through graphics, writing lessons and developing curriculum for schools, support groups and many others.
Other creative things like public service project, events like brain injury camp, hoopfest teams, gaming events all of which gave me purpose. Other forms of creativity are painting, sewing, pottery, yoga, movie making, crafts like jewelry making, poems, needle work, building things, destroying things. All help us deal with things and heal. All give us purpose.
