Lee is co-author, along with Mary Faulkner, of Spirit Recovery Medicine Bag - A Transformational Guide for Living Happy, Joyous and Free
During those times when life seems empty and we’re feeling lonely, lost, or “less-than”--or even struggling with addiction--it’s often because our spirit has become squashed. We’ve disconnected or shut ourselves down. You hear it in the stories we tell. Driven by injury, false beliefs, fear, we accept this manufactured vision of ourselves as true. Yet our lives have the ability to go from living hell to living our version of paradise when we release our spirit from bondage.
And that’s why Spirit Recovery Medicine Bag is such an essential and life-changing resource for so many. Crafted by best- selling authors, respected leaders in the recovery movement, and founders of Nashville’s Integrative Life Center, The book is half autobiographical journey and half medicine bag filled with spiritual healing practices for those who are struggling with any aspect of life.
Lee McCormick is the founder of The Ranch Recovery Center in Nunnelly, TN, and The Canyon Treatment Center in Malibu, CA. He is also cofounder of Nashville's Integrative Life Center and IOP/PHP Community Recovery program in Nashville, TN. Lee's also the executive producer of the documentary Dreaming Heaven, in which he plays a leading role. He is the author of The Spirit Recovery Meditation Journal: Meditations for Reclaiming Your Authenticity and coauthor of Dreaming Heaven: The Beginning Is Near!

In his popular podcast, Jesse interviews neuroscientists and leaders in the brain-optimization community, seeking insights to help enhance both his own cognition, and those of his listeners.

Relationships are the stuff of our deepest pain and joy. They can leave gaping holes that cause great vulnerability to addiction, and they are also a large part of healing addictions. Ed Khouri shares a fascinating piece of research that links trauma through early attachment problems to dopamine receptor density that affects the ability to regulate pain, pleasure, and emotions. That sets the bar for the level of relational joy in people’s lives. Propensity for addiction increases radically when relational joy is low. What can be done to increase our joy bonds? Lots! Join Beyond Abuse Radio as we explore the connection between addiction and attachment and catch the hope for healing.
Patterned after the typical format of an open meeting in a 12-step group, the show will be a speaker meeting. Guests will be from AA, NA or AlAnon and will share their perspective on what they were like, what happened and what they are like now.
