The Re-Commissioning of Elijah and God's Journey for His Believers

    in Religion

Pastor Brad Morgan of New Life Beginnings Church in Pattison, TX begins by speaking beginning in 1 Kings 17 about the re-commissioning of Elijah.  Elijah was a prophet of God, declaring that there would be no rain except on his word, and he suffered for this word.  Sometimes we go through sufferings, but remember, God will sustain you through your sufferings. In 1 Kings 19:1-5 it says, "And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, also how he had executed all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.” 3 And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!” Then as he lay and slept under a broom tree, suddenly an angel[a] touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat.”

This shows Elijah's journey towards his re-commissioning. Pastor Brad continues to teach from 1 Kings 19 about what God is calling you to do and how he is going to enable you to do it.

Talking in Circles: Tony Stewart Retirement; Furniture Row Racing to Toyota

    in Sports

On tonight's episode we talk about the biggest story of the 2015 season, and it has nothing to do with what's going on on the racetrack. Wednesday afternoon, 3 time Series Champion, Tony Stewart announced that the 2016 season will be his last in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. We will bring on John Harlow from BeyondTheFlag.com to talk about Stewart's legacy, what lead to the decision, the future for Stewart-Haas Racing and also about Tony's future as he will continue racing in other formats.

We'll also discuss that Clint Bowyer will move into the number 14 in 2017, which will have him spend the 2016 season at HScott Motorsports.

We'll also talk about the race in New Hampshire and strategy for some teams, as it seemed to have bitten a couple of Championship contenders in the rear end. We'll talk about those contenders and give our predictions on who we think will move on to the next round and still be in it at Charlotte in 2 weeks.

We'll also discuss how NASCAR will have an increased restart zone and how that may affect the Championship race, after Brad Keselowski was penalized for jumping the start in New Hampshire. As we'll give our opinions on that, and preview the AAA 400 at Dover Downs.

Also, we'll take your phone calls at 917-889-8280

Josh Hood Interview: Clear By Fire Release

    in Books

Inspired by the experiences of a decorated combat veteran and a former member of the 82nd Airborne division, Clear by Fire is a blistering new military thriller about an American hero who, in order to clear his name, must take down a highly classified band of soldiers that has gone murderously rogue.  Join J.T. Patten and Josh Hood for thirty minutes of books, BBQ, and beer.

Here is a bit about Hood's debut novel, which has been rated 4.9 out of 5 stars in over 95 reviews on Amazon.  Mason Kane was a loyal American soldier and a proud member of the elite, off-the-books Anvil Program—a group of black ops soldiers who wage war from the shadows. But all that changed when his commander, as a part of a twisted scheme to force America’s continued involvement in the Middle East, ordered an innocent Afghan family murdered.

Refusing the order, Mason finds himself on the run, hunted by his former comrades and labeled a terrorist by the country he served faithfully. Relying only on his survival skills and the help of female Special Operations operative Renee Hart, Kane must embark on his gravest mission yet: unraveling the conspiracy that reaches all way to the President’s inner circle and stopping the world’s most dangerous soldiers from completing their treacherous plan.

Set in the shadows of the War on Terror, this realistic, action-packed adventure puts a twist in the traditional military thriller and starts a brand-new series that fans of Brad Thor and Brad Taylor will love - See more at: http://books.simonandschuster.com/Clear-by-Fire/Joshua-Hood/Search-and-Destroy-Thriller/9781501105715#sthash.2Jl2CV9c.dpuf

    DST: Ausmus/Gardenhire, CMU/MSU, BYU/U-M, DEN/DET, Wings 0-3 in OT in Preseason

    in Sports

The Tigers General Manager Al Avila announced that Brad Ausmus will remain their manager for the 3rd and final year of his contract. Ed Smith and I analyze why Ausmus may be better than Ron Gardenhire, the man Justin Spiro reported earlier was going to be the next manager.

We also recap Week 4 of College Football in the Mitten involving the Central Michigan Chippewas/#2 Michigan State Spartans and #22 BYU Cougars/Michigan Wolverines matchups and Week 3 for the Lions at home against the Denver Broncos.

Plus, what is going on with the Wings in overtime this preseason? They're 0-3 in the new 3-on-3 extra frame thus far. Are they only getting warmed up? Or do they need to improve?
