Ron Johnson: BP Oil Spill coverup continues

    in Politics

Ron Johnson returns to continue reporting on his efforts to use the judicial system to hold government and Halliburton and BP Oil, accoutable for the disaster in the Gulf.
Why did BP, Halliburton and the federal government refuse to use this technology shown to be 100% effective in controlling and recovering oil spills?
When asked to explain his oil containment system, Johnson stated, This oil containment system replaces the boom or sea curtin. It corrals the oil and keeps the oil in place at the point of the oil spill allowing for the oil to be removed with skimmers and removed safely, not allowing any oil to reach the coastal shorelines. It will contain 100% of any marine oil spill. It greatly limits the number of fish and wildlife that are usually destroyed because of its design. The best part about this system is... That there are no bio-degradeable chemicals which are all carcinogens used. In short, my system works with the environment. Not against it.

Al-Kahina was “the queen of the Berbers” who led the most determined resistance to the early Arab invasion of North Africa. Arab records describe her as having “dark skin, a mass of hair and huge eyes.

A legendary figure, she is also supposed to have had the gift of prophecy. She had three sons, which is characteristic of witches in legends. Even the fact that two were her own and one was adopted (an Arab officer she had captured), was an alleged trait of sorcerers in tales. Another legend claims that in her youth, she had supposedly freed her people from a tyrant by agreeing to marry him and then murdering him on their wedding night. In 639 AD when the Arabs invaded Africa, ending 600 years of Roman occupation, spreading the new religion of Islam from Egypt to Morocco and also into Spain, African people were destroyed or enslaved. Kuseila of Mauritania resisted but he was defeated and killed in 688 AD. His position as leader of the African resisitance was taken over by his relative, Kahina. Under her leadership the Africans fought back fiercely and drove the Arab army northward into Tripolitania. These fierce counter-attacks made some of the Arab generals doubtful that Africa could be conquered. When the Arab general, Hasan ben Numan captured Carthage in 698.Realizing that the enemy was too powerful and bound to return, she was said to have embarked on a scorched earth campaign.  She ordered that the fertile districts be laid waste so that the lack of food and shelter would discourage the Arabs from returning.{Serica Energy has said a drilling campaign will start offshore Morocco in October.2014 Serica is also a partner in drilling planned offshore the UK in H1 2014, on the Centrica-operated East Irish Sea Doyle prospect, 20% equity owned by Serica.. ...Namibia - derived from the Namib, the desert .

Prison Industrial Complex or New Plantation

    in Radio

SACRAMENTO, California — With wildfires blazing throughout the parched Western United States, the state of California has found a novel, though ethically questionable, way to save money on the state’s safety budget: Send state prisoners to work on the frontlines fighting forest fires for $2 per day.

“More than 100 wildfires are burning across the West — destroying dozens of homes, forcing hundreds of people to flee and stretching firefighting budgets to the breaking point,” wrote Tim Stelloh for NBC News on Monday. For California, he reported, that means some 14,000 firefighters combating 19 forest fires, including the “Jerusalem fire,” which covered over 25,000 acres before being mostly contained as of Saturday. “[T]he blaze — along with six others — was still sending smoke south across the San Francisco Bay Area,” Stelloh wrote.

About 4,000 low-level felons from California’s state prisons are fighting the fires, operating out of so-called “conservation camps,” according to Julia Lurie, writing on Friday for Mother Jones. “Between 30 and 40 percent of California’s forest firefighters are state prison inmates,” she reported. Inmates who committed certain offenses, like sex crimes or arson, are blocked from entering the firefighting program. Prisoners work in 24-hour shifts during forest fire season, followed by 24 hours off. Prisoners earn $2 a day just by being in the program, plus an additional $2 an hour when they are actively fighting fires.
