SORT BY Relevancy
Fresh off of the huge article in the Greanville Post, the Election Boycott Advocates are back on Carson's Corner for another 2-hour lively debate/discussion. Last week, much of the discussion during the first hour centered around whether 3rd parties can produce meaningful results in the system, and the idea that the Election Boycott Advocates are doing nothing to change the system. First, as was pointed out by cohost Chris Driscoll, working class 3rd parties have had little success in electing anything other than a handful of people. Part of the reason our voter turnout is so low in America, is that people realize they don't have a real choice in elections. Unlike in other countries that have a much higher turnout, there are no working class parties in America. In fact, not only is there no working class party, as Noam Chomsky points out, the term "working class" is taboo among the ruling class. The working class in America is suffering a class-based assault that cannot be discussed in the corporate media.
As for the idea that the Election Boycott Advocates are not doing anything to change the system, Thomas Baldwin notes, the group is putting out statements that seek to explain why our system is so corrupt and how participating in the system will not lead to favorable results. Such statements have been picked up by websites, including the Greanville Post, which has the Democratic Party nervous. Parties, institutions, and vested individuals have a lot to lose by tearing down the system-we the working class people do not. The billionaires have choices- we do not.
Tune in at 9pm EST.
It has been over one month now that the Election Boycott Advocates have been appearing on Carson's Corner, and with each week, the message is getting louder. More and more websites are covering the Election Boycott Advocates on Carson's Corner, as it is the only place where this sort of resistance is taking place. Last week, Election Boycott Advocates welcomed Jeff Howard, occupier, activist and Obama supporter to the show, and Harry Cason, member/supporter of the Zeitgeist Movement, and Thomas Baldwin, election boycott advocate and blogger. What ensued was a passionate debate/discussion that didn't tear the parties apart, but rather solidified the parties around the notion of an ongoing debate and the dire need for change. This week will be no different, as hosts Bob Carson and Christopher Alan Driscoll welcome the same panel, Jeff Howard, Thomas Baldwin, and Harry Cason to the show, plus a new panelist, Jill Dalton.
Here is Jill Dalton's bio: Jill Dalton is a writer/actress/army brat/activist/truth teller. She can be seen in and consulted for William Hurt on the HBO film, Too Big To Fail, about the global financial meltdown. Her articles have appeared @ Dandelion Salad, OpEdNews, RSN, NationofChange. Her eBook, Is It Fascism Yet? is available on amazon.com. Her play, Collateral Damage, was a semi finalist at the 2014 O’Neill Playwrights Conference.
Please make sure to visit Thomas Baldwin's site as it features some great progressive commentary about working class issues. http://proactvoice.wordpress.com/
Also make sure to check out Zeitgeist material at http://www.thezeitgeistmovement.com/
On this episode of Carson's Corner, join the Election Boycott Advocates as they host a provocative 2 hour discussion that seeks to challenge the movement as well as the entire system. Hosts Bob Carson, Christopher Driscoll, and Election Boycott Advocate member, Thomas Baldwin, welcome Harry Cason, member/supporter of the Zeitgeist Movement to the show. Although generally supportive of the movement, Harry has some concerns about the content and direction of the cause. Carson's Corner also hopes to hear from long time Carson's Corner friend, Jeff Howard. Jeff Howard, who is a veteran, occupier and activist, has some very strong convictions about elections in this country, and anybody who has listened to Jeff before on the show knows he is one of the most fiery individuals out there. Jeff has commented, "Bob.... I'm against boycotting the election ......we do they win." Hopefully, our friend can join this ongoing discussion that we have been having on Carson's Corner. All in all, this will be another great edition of Carson's Corner.
Here is some more info on Harry Cason and why he joined the movement: Harry Cason has been teaching political science at the The City University of New York – College of Staten Island for over twenty years, and has been involved in the anti-war and social rights movement even longer.
Cason is presently writing a book on: U.S. Relations with Spain under Francisco Franco, and Spain’s Eventual Liberalization.
Cason is a member-supporter of the Zeitgeist Movement, because of its holistic-systemic response to the problems we presently face in the world, as opposed to the piecemeal and tweaking response that is typically offered-up these days
It's Sunday, and you know what that means: It's all things election boycott. On this 2 hour edition of Carson's Corner, hosts Bob Carson and Christopher Alan Driscoll will discuss Obama's talks at the United Nations on climate change, and the latest U.S. bombing campaign in Syria. It's clear that the American people have no say in the aforementioned issues, or any issue for that matter. We are not a democracy, and pretending such, only strengthens the system. As the great Zack de la rocha says, "Raise your fist and resist!"
Also joining the show will be Thomas Baldwin, election boycott advocate member, blogger, and owner of the site http://proactvoice.wordpress.com/
Plus, we may have a surprise guest on the show. Tune in at 9pm est to hear the revolution.
On tonight's show - 11 PM Eastern - Christopher Driscoll and Thomas Baldwin of the Election Boycott Advocates join me to talk about their efforts and address many of the FAQ's.
I know how mentally and emotionally invested many people are in the system but perhaps there is another way forward that doesn't involve rubberstamping one of the two major party candidates each cycle. I am looking forward to hearing their reponses, reasoning and evidence. This will be a very good discussion, especially for all those who keep voting each cycle and keep getting much much less than what was expected.
I think the Election Boycott Advocates are on to something here. We won't be talking about "Electoral Politics" - as in - who is right or wrong or better to lead us - or who is lesser evil or who is bat shit crazy. We will be talking the goals and usefullness of the boycott movement and what things might look like down the road.
Tonight... Tuesday, Sept 30th at 11PM Eastern
