Psalms 98:1 O sing unto the Lord a new song;for he hath done marvelious things: his right had and holy arm hath gotten him victory.
In the 3 years that Joe Kidd & Sheila Burke have been together, they have created a sound that is powerful and unique in the world of acoustic music. Influenced by 60s folk music, traditional Appalachian songs, Celtic melodies, the intensity of bluegrass, country, & gospel/christian standards, Classical atmospheres, African & Middle Eastern rhythms, and Native American prayer chants, Joe & Sheila incorporate guitars, autoharp, djembe, Native American sacred drum, and many other diverse instruments from around the world to provide their original and uplifting music. They write socially conscious & spiritual songs of struggle, thanksgiving, redemption, and love. Their descriptions, interpretations & translations (sung in many different languages) are mystic and revelatory. Both are published poets/writers which gives their concerts the added power of the presence of the spoken word. This international duo have recently toured New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, and Ontario Canada while still remaining active in Michigan performing concerts at countless festivals, churches, powwows, television & radio shows, benefits, and venues across the state. Along with this activity, in April 2013 they received their 1st prestigious Detroit Music Award for Outstanding World Music Songwriters of the Year and again in April 2014 they received the award for the 2nd straight year in a row.
In this episode of Frankly Speaking, I chat with Professor Scott McElroy of Auburn University about herbicide resistance concerns for golf turf management and annual bluegrass control with methiozolin.

1 Thessalonians 5:24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
Wow! What a week it has been y'all! Crazy stuff is happening all over the place and it's up to Matt-Man and Jayman to break it all down for folks and make some sense of the world. It's election season in America and one of the big issues states are dealing with is the legalization of marijuana. It seems that legal weed is going to happen eventually, but the prohibitionists are on the losing side of history, but they're hanging on with all their might. We'll tell you how this all plays out.
Alos, the prohibition on whiskey has been lifted at the Bagwine Digs. Matt and Jay will discuss their favorite whiskeys, bourbons and other hard liquor and might even tell a funny story or two about thier checkered histories with hard liquor. Also, we're halfway through the football season and it's time to start separating the pretenders from the contenders and think about who might make both college and pro playoffs.
Sunday is also World Vegan Day! This is significant becase the W.H.O. claimed this week that processed meats including sausage and bacon cause cancer. Needless to say this has set off a firestorm of angst and anger among the meat-eating public and has also done the impossible: Made vegans even more smug.
As always, Canadian Bureau Chief Jamie Mapleleaf will be here along with rest of the IWS Players to entertain the hell outta you guys. You just never know what those crazy folks will come up with! All this and YOUR CALLS @ 661.244.9852!
The sound of Bluegrass Gosple Music is like no other, there is just something about that sound that has a drawing power to the words and melody that will keep you coming back for more. In memory of days gone by, I remember getting to go to see Flatt& Scruggs in person at the Coal Company Show House in Helen, West Virginia, when i was 12 years,my what a thrill, hearing them on Radio, and on the Grand Ole Opry and now in person, I have never forgotten that night. Gone Home. Get In Line Brother,Take me in Your Life Boat, who could ever forget?
Psalm 9:9,10,11 No evil shall befall you,Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling: For He shall give His angels charge over you,To keep you in all your ways.

GREETING TO BLUEGRASS GOSPEL FANS IN: ARKANSAS.
The town of Barto is where Landhaven Bed and Breakfast, is located at 1194 Huffs Church Rd and owned by Donna and Ed Land.
The building was formerly an 1870s general store. You can see some of the history in “the event room”. The first floor has the kitchen, dining room, “gathering room” and one bedroom. I was given one that had a roll in shower and shower bench. This is very unusual for a BandB. There are 4 rooms on the second floor and the living quarters on the third floor with an extra bedroom and private bath if necessary.
Friday night called for entertainment. It was a country-rock-bluegrass sort of local group called Frog Holler. The room was packed with what appeared to be mostly followers of the band. We all loved the music. Some of the women in the audience couldn’t help but get up and dance. Concerts tend to be on both Friday and Saturday evenings with a BYOB.
The pillows on the bed were like the best ever! Would have slept longer if it weren’t for a full day of featured fun to look forward to. Breakfast was a deconstructed blintz. Bake casserole with the cheese filling. Then you get to scoop on fresh cooked apple pieces, nuts and a vanilla sour cream. Donna and Ed maintain an extremely friendly atmosphere. www.landhavenbandb.com
We will talk with the owners.
