What goes together better than cars, drinking, and laughs?....What?.... Oh well actually our lawyers are saying that came out wrong....
How about just kicking back and talking about cars and the car-guy's world while enjoying a stiff drink, or tasty brew? Ok we've been told that's better. We will attempt to cover all of those bases in this weekly show where we present to you as much probably less-than-factual news, reviews, and updates on stuff car guys care about! What the hell is going in new cars and in our car-centric culture in general? Find out with Matt and Jay every week!
This week we alter our state of minds, and return to a time in automotive history when boost crazed engineers were running the production lines! Matt and Jay connect the dots between the wild forced induction 80's, and the coming storm of turbo powered domestic vehicles! In keeping with the "AMERICA F#$K YEAH!" theme we tap into the cask of one of our country's greatest exports, and along with Professor Petrol discover the glory of the Bourbon Trail. Please keep up with the conversation as always on Twitter @TheWheelMenShow, and Instagram! Of course you can always grab visuals from our stories, videos, and links to our episodes on our FB page - Facebook/TheWheelMen. Thank you for downloading!!!!!!!!!!!!
In honor of Jim Beam’s 150th birthday, wei took a trip to Clermont, Kentucky to tour the place where bourbon is born. We visited the Jim Beam distillery and warehouses and got an up close look - and taste - of the bourbon making process.
One of the highlights of the trip was meeting and interviewing Jim Beam Noe - great grandson of Jim Beam. For today’s show we thought we’d play that interview for you. The Stillhouse was a little noisy and our audio quality is rough at times, but if you pour yourself a tall glass of bourbon, plop yourself down in a rocking chair, and give it a listen, you’re going to want to hit the Bourbon Trail and pay tribute to Jim Beam yourself. Cheers!
Here's a link to some more pictures from our visit to Louisville and the distillery in Clermont.
CareGiverStory, is proud to have as our very special guest, Kevin O'Brien — entrepreneur, filmmaker, son, brother and a caregiver to his father. The moment I spoke with Kevin —I immediately wanted to interview him, and his family to share their amazing story. About family love..
Bio: Born in 1989, Kevin O'Brien enjoyed 20 years in a healthy home, under the wing of his parents Sandra and Michael O'Brien. In 2009, at the age of 61, his father was diagnosed with early onset frontotemporal lobe dementia. As the year passed, Michael's cognition decreased, and the caregiving responsibilities Kevin shared with his brother, Connor O'Brien, and his mother, increased. Those years also saw Kevin graduated CSULB with a degree in Political Science, work four years at the public affairs firm GrassrootsLab, and leap into the entertainment industry with a contractual position at NBCUniversal. Kevin now spends his time looking for his next professional avenue and working to produce The Trail, a short film that seeks to chronicle the period of time between his father's diagnosis and his 5150, a psychotic break that his father experienced, one that required his medication and speed his need for round-the-clock care.

Join World Footprints as we explore American History through the voices and houses of the country's Founding Fathers with award-winning author Myron Magnet. In his book, The Founders at Home: The Building of America, 1735 - 1817, Magnet says that among all of our founders accomplishments the American Revolution has been the country's only enduring success. We are also going to review American History from another angle--America's Whiskey Trail. Saturday Evening Post contributor Todd Pitock will take us to the birth places of America's native spirit. Finally, we will revisit our coverage of the Sochi Paralympic Games with a post script segment. You will meet another favorite of the Games when we introduce two-time Silver Medalist Mark Bathum and his guide Cade Yamamoto. Mark and Cade won their medals in the Men's Super G and Super Combined Alpine events for the visually impaired.

Milling About visits the Urban Wine Trail in Santa Barbara's Funk Zone. Our first stop is Cottonwood Canyon (www.cottonwoodcanyon.com) hosted by Randy. Known for their Pinot Noir, it's the first winery in Santa Barbara county to be put in caves; 6,000 square feet to keep the temperature and humidity constant for fine wines. They also have a European style 2001 Pinot with hints of earthy peat moss, mushroom truffle, caramel smoke and then the berries (in that order). Randy says their 'slap upside the head' perfect prime rib Syrah has red licorice and plum flavors. And their dessert Syrah comes with instructions to go perfectly with chocolate.
Our next stop is the Santa Barbara Winery (www.sbwinery.com) hosted by Shai. It's the oldest winery in the Funk Zone. Their white wine is produced on the premises and their reds are done at Lafond vineyards in the Santa Rita hills. Their Pinot Gris has aromatics of granny smith apple and green pear; Shai recommends it as a cocktail wine. Their Reislings have different levels of sweetness to the amount of alcohol; the less sugar goes well with spicy thai and the sweeter wine is described as a cheesecake dessert.
Our last stop is Riverbench Winery (www.riverbench.com) known for their sparkling wines; hosted by Cassie. Their Blanc de Blanc has notes of apple, kiwi and a toastiness that is attributed to an unfortunate fire but lends itself to a delicious smokey flavor. Check out their Valentine's Day mixer with a never before tasted Pinot and game night where you can taste wine and challenge yourself to Twister!
READ MY LIPS' akaRadioRed goes beyond the typical blah-blah-yada-yada canned interview, engaging multiple guests in spontaneous conversations.
