    in Christianity

Over the years, I've interviewed numerous people who many would call celebrities. This show will be one of my biggest yet as I interview Sawyer Fredericks, who last Tuesday was named the winner of this year's music competition - The Voice.

Also, there is something going on called the Charlie Charlie Challenge. I'm going to take a look at this subject and give you my opinion.

Plus, the new movie, Faith of Our Fathers will be released on July 1st by our good friends at Pure Flix. The movie is a Story Of Fatherhood. A Journey of Brotherhood.

Finally, the weekly A.D. The Bible Continues segment will close out our show.

Hard Starboard Radio: So Illegal Immigration Isn’t Inevitable After All?

    in Politics Conservative

Barack Obama is suspending the law designed to deter illegal immigration; “Stop blocking amnesty and increased immigration, you troglodyte Rethuglikans!” - like we could; plus a spring - or marathon - through the Political Pistachio headlines, and, time permitting, why Rand Paul’s NSA metadata concerns are misplaced, and why shootings in Baltimore are way, way up.

Closing the "Opportunity Gap" Through Mentoring Programs

    in Training

How is it that some people wind up on top of the social heap and others wind up on the bottom? This question, which sociologists refer to as social mobility, has been studied for decades. Recently, the prominent sociologist Robert Putnam has published a new book that examines social mobility, income equality and the American Dream.

What he uncovers is disturbing. Putnam says that social mobility is poised to plunge in the years ahead, shattering the American Dream.

Why is this so and what can be done about it?

On Friday, May 29, at 9:00 a.m. (PDT) I will be discussing this topic with my guest Mary Fernandez, the President of MentorNet, a division of Great Minds in STEM™. MentorNet implements a national, guided, one-to-one mentoring program that matches STEM students with STEM professionals in high-quality, virtual mentorships. By the way, STEM is the acronym for science, technology, engineering and math.

This podcast is produced in cooperation with the University of Massachusetts at Boston's Chronicle of Evidence-Based Mentoring and Vince Reardon.

    Paywall, death wall

    in Politics Progressive

The Boston Globe has [assed my chokepoint, at $14.34 a week in its recent delivery price. Ihave subscribed since 1979 and flipping the bird is a bigger deal fol me than them.  I shall move to the still exorbitant $3.99 online sub, but [probaly will drop it all.  I'll likely to go to a full-time NYT sub instead of just Sunday or maybe revert to the smart-guy Financial Times.

Let's talk about paywalls and paper v. internet-only.

Thomas Waite joins Thorne & Cross: Haunted Nights LIVE!

    in Books

Haunted Nights LIVE! hosts Thorne & Cross welcome

Tom was born in the seaside town of Ipswich, Massachusetts, once home to the authors John Updike (who was a patient of his Dad, which enabled Tom to build a nice collection of signed first edition novels), Adele Robertson, John Norton, and the poet Anne Bradstreet. Perhaps it was the history of the town, but from an early age Tom developed a love of writing and left Ipswich to earn his degree in English Literature at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. There he focused on creative writing and was selected by the English Department to participate in an international study program at the University of Oxford.

After college Tom lived in New York City and Boston and published non-fiction in such publications as THE NEW YORK TIMES and the HARVARD BUSINESS REVIEW. He embarked on a career in technology culminating in his starting, building, and selling a technology strategy consulting firm

In addition to writing fiction, Tom is the board director of, and an advisor to, technology companies in the cyber security, media, data analytics, cloud computing, mobile, social intelligence, and information technology businesses. He now lives in Boston.

Amazon Bestseller: When the Blue Lady walks… Death walks with her… Thorne & Cross’ collaborative debut, The Cliffhouse Haunting is now available. They are also the authors of the successful serialized novel, The Ghosts of Ravencrest, among other works. Visit Thorne and Cross at their websites: tamarathorne.com and alis
