    in Entertainment

~~Hello Everyone! My name is Michelle Cornwell Jordan, I am your host!

~~The definition of Maverick is an unorthodox or independent-minded person.

I have the pleasure of chatting with two of these "Thinking Outside The Box Artists" Science Fiction and Fantasy Author(s) Jeffrey Cook and Katherine Perkins!

Jeffrey Cook has a full house, living with his wife of 15 years, one housemate who frequently asks him how the latest book is coming, and 3 large dogs. All three dogs are rescues from PAWS – an organization he has backed for some time, and is currently heading up an anthology series (Shakespeare Goes Punk) to help support.

The Dawn of Steam books were his first novels. His next planned novels are all Young Adult books, but he plans to return to the Dawn of Steam world and the early 19th century eventually.

    Contact: http://www.authorjeffreycook.com/

Katherine Perkins lives in Mobile, Alabama with her husband and one very skittish cat. She was born in Lafayette, Louisiana and will defend its cuisine on any field of honor. When not reading, researching, writing, or editing, she tries to remember what she was supposed to be doing."

    in Politics

Tonight our Show will start our reading on our brother George Lester Jackson, son of Lester and Georgia Bea Jackson Elder brother of Jonathan Jackson who was killed in an attempt to free his brother George.   He was an African Captive in America who never considered himself an African American. A Prison activist who was the cofounder of the Black Guerrillas.George Lester Jackson (September 23, 1941 – August 21, 1971) was an African-American left-wing activist, Marxist, author, he became a member of the Black Panther Party while incarcerated. Jackson achieved fame as one of the Soledad Brothers and was later shot to death by guards in San Quentin Prison following an unsuccessful escape attempt which left Jackson and four others, including a judge, dead. Jackson was the second son of Lester and Georgia Bea Jackson's five children. He spent time in the California Youth Authority Corrections facility in Paso Robles because of several juvenile convictions including armed robbery, assault, and burglary. His life of petty crime was due to his rebellious attitude against the WHITE RACIST GOVERNMENT OF AMERICA. In 1961 he was convicted of armed robbery, for robbing $70 from a gas station at gunpoint and at age 18 was sentenced to serve one year to life in prison. We will examine the work of George Jackson through his letters written to family and friends over the years all compiled in a books called "THE SOLEDAD BROTHERS"

During his first years at San Quentin State Prison, Jackson became involved in revolutionary activity, as well as assaults on guards and fellow inmates. Such behavior, in turn, was used to justify his continued incarceration on an indeterminate sentence. He was described by prison officials as egocentric and anti-social.
As Jackson's disciplinary infractions grew he spent more time in solitary confinement, where he studied political economy and radical theory. H

Deborah Coonts returns with her new Lucky O'Toole book and a surprise! LIVE

    in Books

Authors on the Air Host Pam Stack welcomes Deborah Coonts back to the studio.  LIVE LINK - http://www.blogtalkradio.com/authorsontheair/2015/12/01/deborah-coonts-returns-with-her-new-lucky-otoole-book-and-a-surprise-live

I am proof positive that sex sells…and persistence pays off. After fifteen years learning the craft of writing, I am now officially, an overnight success. And it’s been a long road to get here…  My mother tells me I was born in Texas a very long time ago, but I’m not so sure—my mother can’t be trusted. These things I do know: I was raised in Texas on barbeque, Mexican food and beer. I’ve lived in every time zone in the U.S.; the most memorable stint being the time spent in Las Vegas, where I currently reside and where family and friends tell me I can’t get into too much trouble…silly people. The only constant in my life (besides my family, who deserves hazardous duty pay for sticking with me) has been change (my mother is still waiting for me to grow up). Silly woman. But all of this career ADD made me incredibly unemployable. Hence the whole writing thing.  Actually, I’ve known from a young age that somehow stories would be a large part of my life, but my path to telling lies for a living (okay, not lies per se, but variations of the truth, for sure) has been circuitous. If someone had just told me when I was a kid that I could actually be paid to daydream for a living, life would have been soooo much easier. But they didn’t. And I never saw a ‘daydreaming’ booth at all those Career Days I attended.http://deborahcoonts.com/
