The group started at an early age consisting of two original members who are also two sisters. Veronica (Vonnie) & Vanessa (Bird). Coming from a family with a strong Christian background.
We begin singing in the church choir “New Saint Mark Baptist Church”. There we met two additional young ladies and we formed the group once known as the “Dynanettes”. This is when our singing career in the Gospel began. To summarize the different avenues that God has taken us would be to almost right a book.
As time went on the groups name and personnel all changed. The group now known as “Serenity” consists of three female vocalists, Veronica “Vonnie” Martinez, Vanessa “Bird” Lynch & Evangelist Pam Jackson. With this new group and identity we have had the opportunity to travel to various places around the East & West Coast, performing with artist such as, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp , Fred Hammond , The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Clark Sisters, Bobby Jones, Shirley Caesar, Lee Williams, and many others.
We also have had the opportunity to record with various artist, such as Doc McKenzie, Timothy Wright, Julia Mae Price, Melodyaires, New Jersey Mass Choir, Minister Edward Fowler, & Damon Little. Serenity has one recording that was done live in Miami, Florida, titled “It’s In My Heart” which is a highly requested song everywhere we go.
Deja Bryson is an emerging R&B, Soul & Rock artist from Richmond, CA. She sings, writes and produces music with a message of love, empowerment and individuality. Nice of Vocal icon, Peabo Bryson, Deja's vocal skills come naturally. She is a powerhouse live, able to sing acapella or with music and still rocks the crowd. Deja has performed with artists such as Nas, Marsha Ambrosius, Dwele, Bobby Valentino and PeaboBryson. She has performed at several NBA games with her inimitable rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner," has been featured at one of the 2009 Inagural balls and has had many other spectacular milestones. She attended a 4 year music program at UC Berkeley, where she honed her musical skills through intense vocal training in genres such as jazz and classical music. Deja is following up her debut project I'm Power with a new sophomore EP called The Revolution. The album features 6 songs recorded with a live band. The leading single from the album is "Just A Woman" was released March 19, 2013. Be sure to check it out and keep up with this amazing and extremely talented new songbird!
