The Judas Effect: Betraying Jesus for Money, Fame & Power

    in Christianity

Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus Christ for 30 pieces of silver.

He may have "loved" Jesus (at least, he loved the Jesus that he ministered alongside healing the sick and feeding the poor), but Judas also loved money (John 12:6) and being in a position of power (Mark 14:43-45).

This would make him hate the Jesus that called out the Pharisees (Matthew 23), drove out the money changers in the temple (John 2), and told rich people that it was humanly impossible for the them to enter Heaven (Mark 10:25).

Today, many megachurch pastors betray Jesus for fame and fortune. They love the Jesus that loves the world (John 3:16), but they hate the Jesus that calls out false teachers (Matthew 24:24), values ministry above merchandise (Luke 14:33), and despises the things the world esteems (Luke 16:15).

Many political candidates betray Jesus for power and money. They love the Jesus that supported taxes (Mark 12:17), but hate the Jesus who said “let your statement be ‘yes’ or ‘no’; anything beyond these is of evil.” (Matthew 5:37).

They hate the Jesus who defined success as being last, not first (Mark 10:31), and who did not seek the approval of others (John 5:41-44).

In the end, what’s the difference between 30 pieces of silver and…a 30,000 “member” church?

Or 30 million copies of a self-help book?
    Or a 30% poll rating?
    Or 30 million votes?

    Bob Nkosha aka DORIKA

    in Comedy

Bob Nkosha is a celebrated Comedian, writer director and actor, he is probably best known for his alter ego character of Dorika Ndaifulia SC but to place the focus entirely on his alter ego would be to miss one the sharpest comedic minds working today. Nkosha is a master of creating characters and conceptual bits in the place of traditional joke-telling. An avid dancer he often incorporates dance into his act, what may seem interesting is his ability to create material that is actually inventive, daring and often brilliant comedy for all ages and status corporate or non corporate in society. Bob Nkosha was born and raised in Kitwe, Copperbelt province. He performed his first stand-up gig at Kitwe Little Theatre. He will be on tour of the United States starting in Chicago and he's our featured guest to share his life story, future of comedy in Zambia.

Feb. 12, 2016, 10pm (PST) - Disclosure and John Podesta with Stephen Bassett

    in Paranormal

One year ago, White House Senior Advisor John Podesta released a tweet on his personal account regarding the disclosure of UFOs. And tonight on Spaced Out Radio, we bring in the man pushing hard to bring forward what Podesta meant by the ominous tweet that has since been followed up with another just a few weeks ago.

Stephen Bassett is the executive director of Paradigm Research Group founded in 1996 to end a government imposed embargo on the truth behind the so called "UFO" phenomenon. Stephen has spoken to audiences around the world about the implications of formal "Disclosure" by world governments of an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race.

He has given over 1000 radio and television interviews, and PRG's advocacy work has been extensively covered by national and international media. In 2013 PRG produced a "Citizen Hearing on Disclosure" at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. On November 5, 2014 PRG launched a Congressional Hearing/Political Initiative seeking the first hearings on Capitol Hill since 1968 regarding the extraterrestrial presence issue and working to see that issue included in the ongoing presidential campaign.

There can be only one outcome to the Disclosure advocacy movement - the formal acknowledgement of the extraterrestrial presence by world governments.

WORLD WIDE AFRICA THE VOICE OF THE PAN AFRICAN MOVEMENT

    in Politics

The Sickle-Cell Anemia Research Foundation has raised the consciousness ofthe community, first by giving it the basic facts about the disease, and second by bringing to its attention the neglect of the disease in medical research. The community has learned through the foundation 's program that the people  themselves can organize and find solutions to the problems that daily affect their survival. HUEY P. NEWTON The 63rd session of the UN General Assembly in December 2008 adopted a resolution on the “recognition of sickle-cell anaemia as a public health problem,” and urged Member States and UN organizations to raise awareness of SCD on June 19 of each year.21 Despite the fact that the UN has called for global efforts “to bring the disease out of the shadows,” relatively little attention has been given to assessing the burden of SCD and how to reduce it in Africa, where about 85% of children with SCD are born.22 In 2010, the WHO Regional Office for Africa proposed a SCD strategy in official recognition of the fact that this disease is an important cause of child mortality in many African countries.23 Enough is already known to justify investment in public health SCD programs, such as those already in place for other conditions (e.g., HIV or malaria), for promoting widespread screening, health education, and treatment to prevent or manage SCD complications.

    ANYTHING GOES Lindsay Downs

    in Pop Culture

Bennet Pomerantz talks to media guests on the Betty Award winning ANYTHING GOES. His guest tonight is author Lindsay Downs

I've been an avid readers ever since I was old enough to hold a red leather bound first edition copy of Sir Walter Scott's The Lady of the Lake in my lap.
So it only seemed natural at some point in my life I take up pen and paper to start writing. Over time my skills slightly improved which I attribute to my English teachers.
My breakthrough came about in the mid 1970's when I read a historical romance written by Sergeanne Golon, Angelique. This French husband and wife team opened my eyes to the real world of fiction. Stories about romance, beautiful damsels, handsome heroes and plots which kept me hooked. Of course, being a man, I had to keep my reading hidden from others as that wasn't appropriate reading for men.
With this new found appreciation of the written word I took up other books and devoured them as a starving person would a plate of food. I them attempted to write again. I still wasn't satisfied so I put it aside for years as other events entered my life.

Finally, in the early years of the new millennium I tried again to write and once again met with limited success. At least now I was able to get past the first page or two. Then, in 2006 a life changing event brought me back to my love, I took a job as a security officer. This allowed me plenty of time to read different genres.
My favourite was regency. As I poured through everyone I could get my hands on I knew this could be something I wanted to attempt.

Since 2012 when my debut regency romantic suspense released I was hooked and have, except for a few contemporaries, focused on this genre.

Since 2012 I've lived in central Texas. I'm also a member of Romance Writers of America and their local chapter.
