SwCA Episode 193: My Life Is More Awesome Than I Ever Dreamed! I Am Grateful But Also Feel Guilty. ...
SHOW NOTES: This specific episode is, "My Life Is More Awesome Than I Ever Dreamed! I Am Grateful But Also Feel Guilty. Help!"
Wow. We have so much in our lives that has surpassed our dreams and goals! Our work (paid and/or volunteer), our community of caring (family and friends), our daily joy. We discuss in this show that some people will have a moment of clarity when they look around and realize how far they have surpassed their goals. (The “I really did it” moment!) Other people have a very specific predefined goal and events related thereto (first day of public trading of their firm, standing on the stand at the Olympics receiving a medal, at their wedding, their child’s first day of school, hitting one million dollars in sales, etc.).
I share in the show that I never had a specific singular predefined goal. In the past few years I have looked around and realized, I am living the dream! My work is more exciting, challenging, rewarding and fulfilling than I ever imagined. My community of caring is filled with authentic people that I respect and trust. My physical surroundings (homes, etc.) are beautiful. I have the resources to do what I feel like doing when I feel like doing it. I rarely have an unpleasant person in my life that I ‘have to put up with’ and I am containing to add more layers of resources to my financial independence.
I wake up 99% of the time (except for when I am sick or something horrendous happens in life) really excited about the upcoming day. I dance around in the morning when I rise in celebration of the new day! I can’t wait to see what happens!
How did this happen?
1) I have had numerous specific goals that I have relentlessly pursued.
2) I n

The late, great comic George Carlin did a 3-min./12-sec. comedy skit a few years back.
It basically encapsulated the entire thrust of what the Occupy Wall Street movement was all about.
Only a handful of people actually have a say in the affairs of our country and that is because they own literally everything ---> land, buildings, corporations, banks AND most importantly, the AIR WAVES!
They therefore OWN all of the rest of us. They have us by the BALLS!
They tell us what to think, how to react, what to focus on or not.
The 1% know full well that, for the most part, MOST of us will do as we're told and not bother thinking about any BIG PICTURE. They know full well that, for the most part, we are too bogged down with our own respective daily dramas - like survival - and that we will never mount any real concerted threat directed at their monopoly of power.
We, in effect, play the part of the victim all too well. We allow the mighty plutocratic machine to ram us up the arse continuously and relentlessly with the Red, White & Blue Shaft. And, we don't really work up much of a lather to offer up a real objection or complaint. We can only muster up a tinny whine and just continue to muddle along.
Having lost so many hard fought rights and privileges over the last 30-35 years the Plutocrats are now going after our Social Security & Carlin suggests that they will get that as well.
He closes his skit with a complete refutation of the so-called AMERICAN DREAM. He intones: "It's A Dream, Because You Have To Be ASLEEP TO BELIEVE IT!

Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! as laughter and an encouraging testimony take center stage as Scott interviews Torry Martin.
Although Martin has a long list of accomplishments as an actor, author, storyteller, and a stand-up comedian, he prefers to use his gifts for laughter, writing, and entertaining to bring serious messages to audiences through the softening blows of humor. After telling a typical “Torry Story” revolving around his own blundering and misfortune, Martin pulls in the spiritual lesson in a sometimes subtle way. “If I can keep them laughing while they’re learning, it doesn’t hurt their brains as much.”
Martin was a stand-up comic and actor in Los Angeles before he became a Christian. After finding the Lord, Martin moved to Alaska and lived in a remote cabin with a friend who was studying for ministry. He gave up acting and comedy for two years and studied the Bible while becoming grounded in his faith. After being encouraged by some friends at his church, Torry began writing comedy sketches which he entered into the national competition sponsored by the Gospel Music Association called Christian Artists, now called Seminar in the Rockies. He won the grand prize two years in a row and now returns annually as an instructor. Martin has written for Adventures in Odyssey, a children’s radio series produced by Focus on the Family. For this self-proclaimed “hippie-for-the-Holy-One,” the melding of talent and faith has also resulted in the release of several books, including Under the Circumstances, and What a Character. Both are collections of comedy sketches about Christian life.

Proverbs 11:1-5 (KJV)
1 A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.
2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.
5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

In the "We should really be watching Jacob deGrom instead" edition, Jeffrey and Greg made the mistake of scheduling their host segments while Jacob deGrom was breaking records and stuff. So get ready for short and disjointed commentary on the Mets dashed playoff dreams, stompgate, and how being a Mets fan is kind of icky now. Fortunately we have a couple guests to do the heavy lifting. First, Jay Jaffe of SI.com talks about various Mets Hall of Fame cases. When will Mike Piazza get in? Will David Wright get in? And is there any hope for John Olerud? Then, Jason Wojciechowski of Beaneball and Baseball Prospectus is here to discuss the Castergine lawsuit in more lawyerly detail. And of course, we wrap things up with your e-mails, wherein Jeffrey threatens to quit #MetsTwitter again.
