Blended Families-The trials and tribulations, the good, bad and ugly of blended families. Do they work without conflict?
Webster's defines Blended Family as, a family that includes children from a previous marriage of the wife, husband, or both parents.
*Estimates reflect 41% of couples 'living together' have children living in the home
*2,100 new blended families are formed EVERY DAY in America
*By 2010, blended families/step-families will be the most common form of family in America
It’s that time again!!! Join us tonight on R.I.G.H.T. Mind Radio as we keep the conversation going. Tonight we are going to discuss Blended Families. When 2 people come together & have a child, sometimes the parents split up. Is there a way for the child to still benefit from both parents being around each other at the same time? If both parents have moved on with their lives, what does it hurt for everybody to be able to come together in the same setting so that the child can enjoy both parents? Back in the day, we use to say that it takes a village to raise a child but today’s society is so far removed from that concept. Our children need multiple mothers & multiple fathers. If you say you love a child that is not biologically yours, how can you not like their other parent? What keeps us from applying this concept? Can we move past our own personal feelings & look at the positive benefits the child will receive? If we can show future generations the concept of blending families, a lot of issues we face will be eliminated. The old ways that work for us as a people should be left into play, but we have to be able to try a new way of relating to each other when it comes to the Black Family. We will have Jong Opvoeder on tonight to give us information on his upcoming event in Columbus, Ga. Come out this Sunday (17th) to the Columbus Public Library as the issue of “The Destruction of the Black Man in Americkkka”. Doors open at 2:45PM and the event starts at 3:30PM. Call in tonight with the questions, comments, & concerns for our panelists & our guest for tonight!!!! 9PM sharp! 917-889-3009. Press “1” if you want to speak!!!

Happily Ever After… and 39 Other Myths about Love: Breaking Through to the Relationship of Your Dreams with Linda and Charlie Bloom
According to married couple and bestselling authors Linda and Charlie Bloom, it’s not so much the things we don’t know about relationships that can hurt us but rather the things we THINK WE KNOW. These myths, from “they lived happily ever after” to “love means never to having to say you’re sorry” to “once a cheater, always a cheater,” permeate our culture and take root in our minds, preventing many couples from doing the work required to build a good, lasting relationship.
Join us as we explore these myths together and talk about how you can recognize and be free from the limits of these beliefs.
Linda Bloom, LCSW, and Charlie Bloom, MSW, regularly teach at Esalen Institute and the Kripalu Center and have served as adjunct faculty at institutes of higher learning including UC Berkeley Extension, and California Institute for Integral Studies. They live in Santa Cruz, CA. Their website is www.Bloomwork.com.
