3 Tips for Hollywood Newbie's
Would you go on a trip if you didn’t know where you’re going? How do you navigate a route if you don’t know the final destination? Every year over 100,000 dreamers pack up their lives, quit their day jobs and move to Hollywood to pursue a career in the entertainment business; but most don’t have an address for their dreams.
There are 3 major steps you need to take so you can save time, money and create the opportunities you want in the entertainment business.
Step #1- Get Local Experience. First, make a list of all your skills.
Step #2- Make Local Connections- Maybe you’ve tried calling several key people in your area, but they are not hiring.
Step #3- Living Requirements- Most likely if you live anywhere else besides New York or Hollywood, you get a lot for your money.
Once you get to Hollywood, there are many options of ways to make money and still have time to pursue your dream career. Next week, I will share the top 8 day jobs in Hollywood.

Next week is the 7th Anniversary of the free weekly podcast that has been changing the way people listen to the internet since May of 2007.
Please help your friends in podcasting prepare their anniversary show by writing to them with your favorite Chillpak Hollywood memories.
Also, if you’re going to be in the Los Angeles area and are interested in discount tickets to Sci-Fest (where you can see Dean on-stage in Ray Bradbury’s “Kaleidoscope”), please write and let us know.
Finally, please help Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness complete their new film by visiting The Lady Killers, watching the official trailer, reading about the film, making a donation (if possible) and spreading the word!
Now enjoy this week’s installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour …
It’s all about comedy on this week’s show … From Dean Haglund’s one-man improv at Sci-Fest 2014 to Dean and Phil’s movie The Lady Killers,, from a video demonstrating what comedic filmmakers can learn from Edgar Wright to the foreign distribution of American comedies, your friends in podcasting get serious about the subject of laughter. Heck there’s even the possibility of Phil directing a remake of Notting Hill set in … China?! All that, plus the peerless Maya Angelou is remembered. This week, on YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour!
Back when YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour was just getting started (as "From the Heart of Hollywood"), it's quite likely that Erynn Petrulis was the youngest listener of the show, teen-ager, living in the UK, who had already acted on-stage with Dean Haglund (while he was touring the UK with his one-man "X-Files" improv).
Now, 7 years later, Erynn is a college graduate and a budding actress, having appeared in dozens of plays and short films. More important, she becomes the youngest guest yet on YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour.
So, join us poolside, high atop the historic core of downtown Los Angeles, as the delightful Miss Petrulis swaps stories with her two mentors, your friends in podcasting, Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness
