Dr. Mike Robinson, host of Parent Talk Live discusses Black Males and Dyslexia with his guest Shawn Anthony Robinson.
BIO: Shawn Anthony Robinson, M.Ed, is a doctoral candidate at Cardinal Stritch University (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) in the Literacy and Language program. His concentration is on giftedness and dyslexia. Robinson brings a wealth of academic experience, training and knowledge about the psychological development of dyslexia, especially among Black males who have not tapped into their gifts because of their misdiagnosis and inability to read or spell. He is an emerging national speaker, and one of few scholars in the United States with a research focus on the scholarship, theory and literature addressing theoretical or psychological frameworks investigating twice-exceptional Black males who have dyslexia.
Practitioners working with gifted Black males with dyslexia must understand how these students navigate educational systems, understand their unique learning styles, and how they construct knowledge through different sociocultural experiences, which are associated with their self-perception, self-esteem and sense of identity.
You do not want to miss this steering conversation about the plight of Black males across America. Rueben Y. Dockery, Sr., explains from the perspectives of a Parent, Clergy and Social Scientist. Let your voice be heard in the conversation, by tuning in. We will cover hot issues such as risk factors for police arrest; where should the church and community stand, things parents needs to know as they rear black males from birth etc.
It’s an open microphone thing!
Black males have a unique experience with the police. What is that experience like? Why is it so different? We will hear from young men between the ages of 18-30. Raw and uncut! Hearing their experiences will help us to understand the emotional scars and rage that develops from these abrasive interactions. They need to be heard to be understood. Listen in and call in at 646-716-5470.
An unexplored, taboo and poignantly pivotal element of Africans in americas history is the molestation of the Men, they would choose the biggest, Blackest and most respected Black man and sodomize him in front of the plantation to phsycologically scar them all.
What if any is the effect today?
Does the effeminization of our Black men have anything to do with this?
This history while not spoken of commonly has never stopped for 400 years, even to this day. In 2013when 400,000 households were "polled" 38% of the molestation occured to males. What has this done to the Relationships between Black Men and Women, Children, families?
Talk about it!!!!

This incident is a tragedy, but it should serve as a spring board for black people to finally deal with the reputation of black males in America! They are well known for being criminals and thugs!
A North Carolina police officer accused of shooting and killing an unarmed man, Jonathan Ferrell, who had apparently been in an automobile wreck was scheduled to appear in court Monday to face a voluntary manslaughter charge.
Apparently, a neighbor saw Ferrell at a house, and assumed he was a thief or burgular, and called police.
What is the reputation of black males in America? They are known for being criminals more than anything else.

The most overused word in the English language is the word "love". People attach the word love to almost everything. I love my car. I love my cat. I love my dog. I love you. But what is love? What is this experience that everyone talks about but is rarely expressed. We must answer that question because we see more actions of hate in our world than love. People are killed everyday on our streets. The radical terrorist group called Isis are cutting off the heads of Christians in the middle east. Racist police are killing young black males at will. Yet we use the word love as though we really love. We don't really love because natural love, or romantic love starts off with a bang, but has no sustaining power as witnessed in this country's high divorce rate. Love is a feeling but so much more. People jump from one relationship to another looking for a feeling rather than real love. So, what is real love? Lets talk about it.
Tonight we will discuss our upcoming free screening of the SBPM made-for-YT-FB-IG-TW video, 'Black Exodus,' on the American public school system. The live screening will be held this coming Sunday, November 29, 2015 @ 2:00pm EST at the Thurgood Marshall Center Trust, Inc., 1816 12th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20009.
****This video was a collaboration between African Unification & SBPM.****
We will also be discussing the most recent attack against Straight Black Pride Movement (SBPM). Apparently, Black Lives Matter got wind of the SBPM 'Black Exodus' free screening, they decided that heterosexual Black people do not have the right to meet and discuss rebuilding and repairing our family structures. Here is the link to the Black Lives Matter event to shut down the SBPM's right to free assembly:
